Twins Progress (pics)

dont know if u've had this problem or not but i noticed ur different size mounting flanges and i thought i would try to give u a heads up... hopefully u dont have this problem... i got dr. performance's wastegate setup- its got the big adapter between the turbo and manifold. the adapters only come in a t4 setup ive got a t3 manifold and s300 so i sent the adapter and a new gasket to the machine shop to have them made. got it back looked good installed with new gaskets on studs very tight. drove the truck for about 2 weeks no problem then i noticed i was starting to lose drive pressure. checked for leaks and sure enough leaking on both sides of the adapter. pulled it all apart all surfaces are square and came to the conclusion that there was not enought sealing surface between the port and the newly made bolt holes.

Thanks for the heads up but all my stuff (manifold, wastegate adapter, and turbo) is t3, so I shouldnt have a problem.

Got the wastegate hooked up and got some drive time in tonight. Cruise numbers, 65mph, about 1700rpm, 4-5psi, 800*.

I think I got the wastegate adjustment pretty close, brought it up to 70psi in OD for a couple seconds, still trying to get some miles on the motor before I abuse it. I plan on racing the truck this weekend and will post the results.

what way did u run your gate? just regulated boost to the top and nothing on bottom or what?

really? is that working good for you? i have had a couple of people tell me to run reg. boost to the top and nothing on bottom. they said to run a light spring and drive pressure will open it up. i am waiting on a call back from Chris@E.D. to get his opinion since I am using one of their gates. now that i think about it, i can see how your way would work too. you must have a heavier spring(s) in your gate to keep from blowing open.

I ended up plumbing boost from the primary to the top of the gate to help hold it shut.

Took the truck to the track tonight and ran a best of 12.36 @ 111mph. Launched at about 18psi, makes almost 60psi in 1st and 70psi through the rest of the gears once I lock the converter, 1250* at the end of the track.

So far I am very happy with the setup, it spools quick and runs cool.

I still need to hook up a temporary boost gauge to the primary and a drive pressure gauge to get some data.
