Who Has the Rattle / Clatter / Knock etc???

I look at it as.... tomorrows another day. I plan to be doing this a long time and I'll get there eventually but, after seeing what happen to Gary....it's gonna be done right! If you stay where you're at... I may just give you a run for your money in ole red :-) hmmmm.... 11.5 on 37's

You wouldn't have to jack your truck up. You could send it off for a custom cage that doesn't undo the interior :rockwoot:

TOTALLY RIGHT about Gary......That's a reality check!!

DUDE 11.50's on 37's would be FREAKIN SICK!!!!! YOU should Totally shoot for that!!!!!!!!!!!

Custom Cage!!! Hmmmm I wonder how non-intrusive they could make it and still seat 4-5 people without bent necks and chit!!!!

Someday maybe!!!

So.... we fixed the motor, had the injectors repaired at f1 (all 6 had bad seats) put the motor together with a .20 over marine HG, and test drove it yesterday for the first time, i was a little worried, cuz i still hear the injector knock, rattle.... ... a bit quieter maybe, but its there, untill boost hits 10 psi... even while cruising

i had smarty TNT/r Timing on #3 TM1 SW 7

I had an Interesting conversation today and it made tons of sense that Dual Pumps as Alot(Not everything) to do with this rattle. My truck with the single pump does not have the same rattle or the amount of rattle as some of you guys do. Has anyone who as dual pumps and the Pressure rattle gone to just one pump and see how it runs. I bet the rattle would be much lower

305/555 knock rattle

Just put in new 50 hp DDP injectors and now have a loud knock/rattle between 1900 and 2500 rpms. Only makes the noise after trucks warmed up and when its under a decent load. Dont have a smarty only the juice. Annoying as hell!!

Why would this make a difference ? The volume is more but, the psi with duals is the same as a single and can be varied through programming.

This is one of the first things I thought of causing it. I talked to Dan @ PPE and he sent me another wiring harness from their kit. I thought maybe the electronics was having issues. It didn't help at all and wasn't the problem. I've not trying going back to one pump though.

Like I said Its just a thought but John made a lot of sense when discussing this subject. I have a single pump with large stix and my rattle is half of what some of you guys are havin. Although when I tried a one of a kind DR. p box The rattle was insane, Kinda what you and david describe

John is correct HTR!

I am working on a fix. it wont be anytime soon, but the preliminary results are awesome. Who knows though; with my recent streak of bad luck, it might not work in the end. LOL

Don / HTR what is it you think it could be ?? Why the secrecy ?

If it is something to do with duals, eliminating one isn't a answer IMO. Yes, singles are getting up there in flow but, will never match what duals can do.

It's like when I've been asked if I tried reinstalling stock sticks. I don't even want to bother cause I can't go backwards with HP.

do tell please what's on your minds.

it's funny how a 2 years I asked and asked for help from those in the know about this a got no where. Now that others have it.... it's a big secret about what might fix it.

I've dealt with it for a while and IMO... it has nothing to do with rail psi.

I was thinking about this the other day and it seems if IRC hearing one of the main problems is the big injectors with not enough air do to bigger turbo(s). Have any of you guys tried the Smarty PoD and cranked it down to like 20-40%, since its cutting back on the fuel delivery I was thinking it might help with the noise. But I could be way out in left field, just a thought.

I had noticed a bad rattle in my truck when I first installed the TST. I have mostly heard the bad rattle when lower RPM and under load, Like taking off, accelerating from a yield sign etc... I have never worried about it just assumed it to be a timimg rattle.

Now my truck doesn't do this all the time or I would be concerned a bit. It would rattle until the truck "caught up" to all the parameters it was calling for, truck load to the truck speed to the spool of the turbo, etc...
I just dont run the settings that make it rattle real bad.

I will get a code thrown every once and awhile if I am cruising (at low rpm little under/over 1500rpm) and get into the throttle a little in 5th or 6th gear and it throws the crank/cam position sensor code and get the same rattle sound from that.

This was with an all stock truck until what it is today.

i was fighting this same rattle over a year ago. lets start from the begining.

never happened utill i put in a 31 lpm injector that was extrude honed. i was running the 27 lpm's for nearly two years no problem. so i sent the injectors off twice to be tested. no problems found. so i got a new CP3 yes NEW from Dodge. still the same concern. tried mutiple different smarty settings and PPE programs. nothing. still the same noise. changed the Tone ring mod back to stock still there. well i figrured i was stuck with it. i even went as far as to take the CP3 off and reclock it. also new crossover tubes, ecm reflashed to stock chrysler. checked oil pressure, i used to work for Dodge so everything i needed was at my finger tips. had mutiple different Cummins techs look it over with me. so i just gave up and drove it.
well i decided to get a much bigger injector, that was EDM'ed. not to try and cure the problem, just for added power for my setup. noise was gone completely gone. added the dual CP3's still no noise to this day!

very odd larger would help. I figured I have pretty larger tips as it is ( don't know their flow ). I'd for sure need twins or a monster turbo if I went bigger.... it's hard to clear them up as it is ! Well, Swole is suppose to go bigger on his soon and if he sees a change... there could be something to it.

Very Very interesting!!!!!

EDM'd. Vs. Ex. Honed

I think Don does both now....

my theory on this is that the extrude honed injectors are a stock hole location injector and as you extrude hone them the spray pattern gets larger and the fuel no longer stays in the fuel bowl. Thus causing the knocking everyone is hearing. With an edm'ed tip the holes aren’t in a stock location to begin with that way the fuel is directed into the fuel bowl. just one thought on this subject
