The one gen

Looks good dude it's nice to get to see all of the photos instead of just a few here and there it is going to be a fun truck

Looks good! That's the same location I put my cooler, though I did cut a 6" hole right below it for some air movement across it. So far so go might change it up a little this winter but haven't got that far in life yet :hehe:

My fan pushes air down through. If I cut a hole, it might defeat the purpose of the fan....although, then I might not even need it! ha

how did I miss this!? want a 1st gen even more now.....thanks! lol

Well......as always with a build of an old rig, theres some quirks and problems to deal with:

Drove it 40 miles since legally allowed on the road. Ran great, but my overdrive and lockup switches weren't doing their job. I figured I'd worry about them later, but I came home and the next day walking up to it to take another drive, I saw this:

I said, "well that sucks." I tore everything apart and drained the new diff fluid:

Apparently when I put new seals and brakes on the rear the first time, I didn't realize or think where the seal would sit. So I threw it all together and come to find out, this was right where the seal sits (rusted pitted part):

Of course the brake shoes were no longer a-ok. so I had to put new ones on with new springs while I was at it. I found out the original rear parking brake cables didn't work, so I also got all (3) new cables and installed those, plus new seals:

I used a speedi sleeve to (hopefully) fix the problem with the seals not sealing because of the rust. I drove it 15 miles tonight with no leaks but time will tell. I'll have to try to find the part number for them. They measure 2.783 inches and are stainless steel:

While I was waiting on parts to fix it for the last week, I worked on a few other things.

I realized I wanted a tach so I wasn't guessing what rpm I was at all the time (since I can spin her to about 3800 rpm), so I moved the tranny temp gauge down near the tranny fan switch, and put the tach on the column.

Also put all new JL Audio speakers in it and a sub along with ipod hookup and new pinoeer head unit:

Plus, I went along with my tradional "big shifter" style and made a new 4x4 shifter knob out of copper:

Hollowed it out because it was so heavy:

Lastly...my battery had dies the other night before all this happened, so I got a brand new battery and a 300 amp alternator for it. Sits at 12-13 volts at idle:

Oh dev the problems you have had occur with this truck, but I know you and how you out do everything you work on. I know this thing is done right and is one sweet ride. Can't wait to come up and spend the weekend and go for a rip bud

how come you took the dual feed off?

awesome build. I want another play truck

Because the ecd front cover was hitting the damper. I was gona run the waterman lift pump and decided to just use the stocker and I can't "easily" dual feed from the stocker unless I use a bunch of different fittings

How are you liking that "mini" tach? I've noticed it on a few sites as well as the steering mount and it looks pretty sweet

Works great. Sensor goes off of two magnets that are glued to a damper or pulley 180* apart. I kinda wish I woulda got the 4k tack instead of the 5k because I rarely do over even 3k, but too late now. Its a "classic style" gauge from diesel manor dot com. I'm sure you could use any style in there (as long as its a 2 1/16 size gauge), I just thought it went well with my other classic style gauges. RPM are dead on, and my rig seems to rev like a damn F1 car. its way snappier than my other 95 cummins I had.

Looking good! Where did you get the rocker switches? Also is that a box sub and amp combo?

No AC? I had to shave the back side of my grille down quite a ways to fit my AC and a 24v intercooler in there on my 90

LOVE the shifter boot!

Do you have a link on where you got that generator? I could use those AMP/volts outputs.

No A/C yet. I didn't have the radiator lookin piece either. I left the lines intact, but maybe later I put it in. Now that I found that "nuts cooler" in the kick panel that lets air in, I'm golden! Haha

Link to the alternator (they also sell starters)
