95' Junker Drag Truck

Why not just use stainless braided and an fittings? I could probably get you the hose and fittings for about $50 and it would look clean.

I've seen some of your work, it looks really clean!

Putting a fancy oil line anywhere on this truck is like polishing a turd, it just doesn't look right!

I'll be sure to post a picture of the complete setup when it's done.

Thank you! I can see where you're coming from, try out Napa, they can make hydraulic hoses with a variety of ends for pretty cheap. The black Parker hose will blend right in :D

I worked on the oil drain for the large HT4B turbo. The cheapest easy solution I could come up with was to buy a threaded 45* drain from Source Automotive for $13.

I wasn't able to find a cheap 3/4" punch, so I bought a 12" length of 3/4" all thread to build my own punch.

Here's a picture of the brace/drain for the HT4B.

I used a small sharpened finish nail set to start the hole.

Then I moved on to the all thread derived punch.

The all thread punch wasn't quite large enough so I ended up adding a bead of weld around it and then ground it to a taper to make the hole large enough.

I tapered the threads a little to make it easier to start threading into the punched hole, it dry fit pretty snug and tight, took me about an hour of beating on the pan with my home made punch to get the hole size just right.

Then I mixed up some JB weld and coated the threads to help permanently lock in the drain and help it form a good seal.

And here is a shot from above, you'll notice it just barely has enough length to clear the edge of the block & oil pan.

Yup it is.

I did the exact same thing on an oil pan 8 yrs ago, and it is still holding to this day, 3 owners later.

I figured it would hold up just fine. Here's a link to how well generic epoxy does with various chemicals.

In short, it looks like epoxy has great chemical resistance..... just doesn't do as well with really basic or really acidic substances such as 100% bleach or battery acid.

Did one better than 6 years ago myself...still running just fine!

The punch method is much better than drilling....although one of my friends nearly shat himself when I started beating on his oil pan with a punch and hammer:D

My brother in law cracked the case on his YZ125 & decided to JB weld it and run it. It is still holding strong 6 years later. Good stuff if its done right. Shame to say. lol

Yeah makes sense, just looking at the hole it seems like it was reamed or drilled. Usually you can see the bent back metal.

Camera angle hides the petals inside, it's punched not drilled. The ring of missing paint is actually indented about 1/8" as well from the beating of the punch...... if you only knew what's rolling around in the bottom of the oil pan, you wouldn't worry about a couple of shaving though.

hmmm.... err... 3" long lift pump shaft!

Haha yeah my pump washer is in mine, I just put a magnet on the bottom of the pan to hold it in place until I get it pulled.

That's nothing...when I pulled the pan on my 95 to fix the broken thrust bearing, I found the KDP, a lift pump push rod, the thrust bearing, and 2 bolts:D

Yeah but that stuff can't make it through the strainer on the pickup tube the shavings can....

I laughed my butt off...I wasted all my luck on that truck for sure. Ran out of oil 3 times when I blew chargers up, run the snot out of it pulling trailers, found stuff like that in the pan, and the bearings still looked brand new at 355K miles. Still runs better than a new one...body is getting a little rough now, though!

My 98 was a whole different story...no luck on that one:D
