95' Junker Drag Truck

it dont matter until you put a good tire under that thing. if i remember right my shocks on the dually look like factory shocks. it has 230k on it.

Off the shelf napa shocks on the mfdt nothin special with all but 2 leafs removed, 2" belltec lowering shackles in the rear and a set of caltracs with custom length bars since off the shelf bars after lowering were too long. Nothing fancy at all and it hooks pretty damn good!

315/60/15 is hooking some damn fast cars man those ET Radials flat out work and would be what I would do. Truck is coming right along!

I tried to go race a couple weeks back but the Friday night street legal racing was "rained out" - I think it sprinkled for 2 minutes about 3 hrs before the event and they closed the track.

In the mean time, I installed a set of 5K governor springs. I'm still trying to tune them in, my idle is hanging right at 2200 rpm and I'm too afraid to give it throttle to see if it settles down, need to spend an hour or two playing with them so I can get the idle back down to the 800 - 1200 rpm range.

Not much of an update.

I'm going to install the cheap "new to me" steering box this week.

Thanks Riviera...... Like I said before, this new steering box might just save my life.

As far as tires, I have been looking for deal but haven't found the right one. I'm tight so it takes a while to find the right size tires in my price range.

In the mean time, I have been adjusting the home-made caltracs and it feels like it's getting better traction on the street so hopefully that translates to better traction at the track on my next outing.

I am planning to attend the NADM/Weekend on the Edge race up in Salt Lake City.

It looks like I'll try to run the 12.0 index class. The rules aren't perfectly clear on what tires are legal for the class. If I have to run street tires, I might have to run the ET class instead because there's little chance of me running quicker than 13 flat with street tires.

I run drag radials in the NADM 12.0 class. I don't believe they have any tire restrictions in that class.

I took the 5K governor springs for a test drive over the weekend, they fuel a little better on the top-end.

I ran 2nd gear up to 4400 rpm and it maintained full boost and had no noticeable decline in power. I can't wait to run at the drag strip and see if these new springs affect the top-end MPH.

I also installed a governor spring from a 180 pump inside the AFC. It really slowed down the fueling on the bottom end and it made the truck much better for street driving/smoke control. I can definitely tell that it cut back some of the horsepower on the bottom end so it might make this truck faster at the track since it's so traction limited.

I also installed a set of Chevy 1-ton rear drum brake cylinders. They were easy to upgrade and made a noticeable difference in rear brake power. I did a few test launches and I was able to build 10 psi boost without turning the tires so the new brakes are quite a bit better.

I'm contemplating racking the barrels and installing the full-cut DV's. I really wanted to do back-to-back tests but there isn't enough time before this upcoming NADM event and I need to comfortably run 11's to be able to qualify for the 12.0 index class.

I apologize to those who were waiting for back-to-back racked barrel testing but I don't think it's going to happen.

I would rack the barrel's and then go for a test drive, that adds a LOT of fuel. If you still feel like you need more then add the dv's. Racking it only takes a few minutes.

Have you racked the barrels on any pumps yet?

I have found it to be very time consuming to get them evenly balanced(for the most part) on the truck. Although i did start with a pump that was already very choppy/out of balance, so it may be easier on a good pump.

The difference will be interesting though

I found exactly the opposite, it was really quick and easy, all the way to the end and it ran just as sooth as it did stock.

I think with a dial indicator and a good running stock pump it wouldnt be too bad. Like i said, i started with a very choppy pump and it ended up MUCH better, but it took a little time in my case.

I may try it on my truck before i pull the engine to replace the cracked block

Good luck blue, should be a good gain in fuel!

Go to an NHRA event and get a set of Top Fuel slicks that are worn out. Those will hook ;)

does anybody have a link for racking the barrels and blue, you should make your own full cuts, its not to hard from what i understand, ive been doing alot of research into cutting your dvs just because i dont have the money to buy my own

I traded my stock 131's for full cuts, so technically, going to full cuts will lower the total amount invested.

Total money spent on performance parts is $2007.
Total money spent on the project including new tires, fluids, fan belt, etc $2770.

Project total to date including purchase price $4270.

Nice, under 5k for what should be 11's with the barrel's racked and the lasers in.

After 40 pages of build I forget two things:
-Do you have a mack rack plug in it?
-Where is the timing at now?
