Well im 19 years old and just blew my engine in my truck. The truck has 150000 miles on it so im definately going to rebuild it. Started out i just had the fuel plate out and the anaroid spring loosened up. Then two days ago i decided to put 4ks in it and I blew it up that night. The number 5 piston cracked and melted to the head. So its f***ed. Now Im putting a whole new motor in it and i might as well build it bad a**. If anyone has any input/parts feel free to let me know! Also im located in bowling green Ky if you got some spare time lol

:thankyou2:

**would love to get Diesel Power out here and do a budget build article**

Build it badass for what? And budget and badass usually doesn't work. Budget badass is around 8k

Well not everyone tries lol and build it just to be faster and actually hold the power it has and not melt the piston.

do you have an egt guage? im just curious what temp you were pushing through that and for how long? or if you had an injector hang open or pop the tip?

I'll bet the piston cooling jet is clogged if all of the injectors look ok.

Not saying this is what you done but I have seen happen a time or two.... A decent amount of fuel+stock air+too much wot in top end speed conditions=melted piston.

everyones opinion of badass is diffrent! my opinion of badass would be anything over 800hp to the wheels and my idea of budget would be under 5k.... somone else might think 500 to the wheels is badass and 10k is budget!!

Well since it's my truck I guess I'll go with my idea of bad ass...

what is your budget? i would do it up with a nice set of 5x014 injectors, if you have a 215 pump id leave those dv's in it, if not i would run some 191s if you have the 180 pump. 4000gsk, and some 60# valve springs, then i would port out your exuast manifold and hang a good s300 charger on it....(thats where i would spend the extra money and get e.d. to hook you up with a 62/71/13 or 14 or possibly a little bit bigger if you dont tow a whole lot. like a 64 r 66..... then from there its all afc tuning and of coarse doin the things that will keep your tranny from spittin parts out. Oh and get a pyrometer first chance you get. dont hang out above 1200 degrees for too long and stuff wont melt down on ya.

That's pretty much my plans exactly except for a little bigger injectors and a bigger charger... Also I'm planning on porting and polishing the head and studs
