97 12 valve Budget Build

Says the guy that put a twisted input shaft in a transmission that he built 4 times before taking it to someone that knew what they were doing.

So these 30+ 25psi launches should have broke it right? LOL

150k on a nice 12 valve and this dude melts the dang thing. dumbass material for sure..

Not Diesel Power Mag exactly, but close :Cheer:

Expensive studs (ARP 625), o-ring, do a cam to keep it from backing out, deck the head, and valvesprings. Otherwise you should be good. Sounds like a malfunction that took the engine out.....Cummins 12v's usually don't blow up until about 800-plus at the wheels.

Blew the head gasket... Hot temps + no coolant = blown 12 valve. I do know what I'm talking about, and I guarantee I can put an input shaft in right ;) haha that's a dumbass right there.

Just got the engine taken apart last night... Crank is still in it but most everything else is out. I'll put more pics up soon

Yeah mine stopped pretty dead too... It's almost done though... I got a heck of a build
Sheet now

more pics, less talk

and my condolences for the letdown from JQmile

I'll put up more pics soon... Build so far:
Big input shaft
Mccloud double disk
Ported polished and o ringed head
120ib valve springs
Scheid dual feed 5x18s
Head milled 20 thousandths
4k springs
Gauges

Also as far as a turbo(s) setup I'm debating putting a cr turbo on it now for the time being just because it's cheap... Thoughts????

Wowzers! Sounds like an awesome build! I would definitely spring for the "cr turbo", it will run great with that high performance milled head. How much power do you think the 40 thousandths added?

Sounds like you made the right move going with the 120i-springs, are they built by Apple and do they communicate with your i-phone?

Did you get i-gauges, or regular gauges?

Funny guy lol 120LB valve springs. And just regular diprocal optix guages. Also, it's 20 thousandths but I'm not sure, all together It will be about 550 horsepower

Correct me if I'm wrong but those dual feed 5x18's sound pretty big to be on a stock CR turbo??

Where are said springs coming from? duel feed 5x.018's huh? Little much for 550 hp I'd say... What pump do you have? 160 I'd guess?

:wrong: these seem to be getting more common here. I am not liking it :bang

97 came with a 215 pump. The springs came from a buddy of mine...I think they are from industrial??? And yes, scheid dual feed 5x18s. It's probably too much for that turbo but it will have to do for a little while. And to you who doesn't like it, click a different link.

No where did you mention it was a '97, and yes I do know that a 215 pump comes on a '97, if you want help here you need to do a little searching before you ask, your question has likely been answered before, other wise try to provide some better info when asking a question

Here's a link for you to follow too
