Budget Beater!

Junker/Budget Beater drag strip death match..... we now live in the same state....

33x14.50 vs 34x13.50
12mm pump vs 13mm pump
Old Holset 82mm Compounds vs. new Borg 80mm Single

Could be interesting if both trucks get hooked up and cut a light. Maybe I can bring the Junker up to II's dyno day next weekend and we can see how we compare power-wise on the same dyno same day. Most would agree that a modern single S480 fueled with a 13mm would make more power than old school HT4B fueled with a 12mm pump. My curiosity is getting the best of me, if the Junker survives NHRDA race this weekend, I'll have to bring it up if your truck will be ready to run on the dyno.

I think the last time Tyler raced it he was running pretty close to what you run, but that was on a smaller tire

On the track I think it would be a very good race. On the dyno you will spank me like a 5 year old that just cussed out his mother. I can tell you exactly what it makes with this setup on our dyno and its not impressive at all. If I can afford it I'm hoping to make it to Arizona and we will have to have a fun line up and bang gears next to each other.

Either way you should be here for our dyno so we can throw a few back.

Looking good man ! When you going to the track next ??
Tyler, we need to find me a truck to put my motor in. Would love to go racing more. But No way in hell im cutting this truck up haha

Finally got the truck back to the track tonight for test and tune. Made a total of 3 passes. First pass I blew a boot at the 60ft and went 11.44 @ 120. Next pass I fell of the charger in 2nd and 4th and went 11.33 @ 119. (Gates are only set with spring pressure and opening super early). 3rd pass it cooled down a bit and went 10.99 @ 122 at only 55psi boost and 60 psi drive. I have the pump cranked all the way to the moon right now for nitrous so it was a smokey pig but I'm happy to be back in the 10s with a terrible 60ft and low boost. #allthespray is next and hoping to hit that 9 sec mark.

Looks a little soft on the top-end trap speed, is it laying over once it gets into overdrive? Maybe need to raise the shift point a little, or possibly a weird heat soaking issue on the charge air cooler? Overdrive brake clutch slippage? The drag calculator predicts a 127.8 MPH trap speed for that 1/8th mile ET/MPH/60' time.

It's falling on its face about 20ft out once the gates open. I'm not driving the charger hard enough. I also shifted into 4th a tad early on the last pass which is probably most of the issue besides the gates.

At only 60psi drive, I wouldn't even let the gate open. I'd run a full pass without the gate and see what it does.

You could say things are getting serious. 9s or bust!!!

Well pretty sure the main reason for the slow down on the top end was the trans finally getting mad at me. Turned up the boost last Wednesday and ran a few 1/8 mile passes. Could only run a best 7.0 @ 98mph with it making way more power. Trans temps shot up to 230* every pass. She gave her all for the last 5 years at 100-300hp above what it was built for so I can be upset at all. Taking her back to Dave at Ultimate Transmission this weekend to give her some love and add a few other special parts if the wallet allows to make sure she can handle what I have in store for her!

Just read every post, nice work. I'm currently building a 95 1500 truck. At the moment we've got a VE pump 12v and a 5 speed getrag. Building a 13mm p-pump engine and 47rh, that I'll swap in when completed. Good read, thanks

5 year old trans finally had enough and fried the direct clutches. Other than that the trans and converter looked perfect. Just got it back yesterday from the boys over at Ultimate Transmission and couldn't be happier. Lots more bigger badder billet parts and quad disc converter from Rusty over at TCS and all the fancy special things Dave does with the trans at Ultimate. This single 80 spools so much easy and comes on even harder now! can wait to spray the balls off it at the track and shoot for those 9s!
