I vompletely forgot about the tappet cover. You have to pull the pump for that thpugh don't you?
Cam is in. Had it 180* at first, so had to pull it and do the damn tappets twice LOL.
But all good just need to re-lash.
BTW: Have stock tappets and cam for sale if anyone needs them
Because valves were hitting the pistons and not letting it turn over. At least thats what we thought. And when we turned the crank over one full cycle, and put the cam back in, it fixed it.
I've also got the timing between 18-22*. I'm assuming the pump was left pinned at the stock 12.5 or whatever it was, so I'm probably at about 18. Might go higher in the coming weeks, depending on how she drives.
I've also already noticed a decrease in idle EGT's, and I've got a new set of feeler's so I can relash them now that they are hot.
Did you mean you had the cam 180 out, or the crank? If you turned the crank over a full 360, it would be in the exact same spot.
Isnt the Cam at half speed since this is a 4 stroke diesel. Crank spinning 1 rev would be 1/2 rev of the cam.

I hear ya. Just trying to figure out what you did wrong as I am going about this as soon as I get enough time off of work to tear the truck down. My cam has been holding the wall up for a couple weeks now.
If the dots line up and the timing pin lines up you cant be off.
