Can we talk about triples?

Ok. I let y'all in a little.
The first setup we are trying on our dmax setup will consist of two +/- 3.4 (88mm)atmosphere chargers, and a +/- 4.2 (106mm) manifold charger.

Roachie, going by that I think that a 70-72mm charger would be right in the ball park of what you would want as a manifold charger.

Thats what Im thinkin.

I do wonder what effect if any lower compression, fully ported head, and a big ass cam will have on this?

On my application Im actually shooting for around 1200+ on fuel, dunno if I can do it, worth a shot though.

It would help if I knew how much power 850cc of fuel can produce.

Lower compression will hurt how quick it lights. Ported head and cam will mean help combat how quick it lights and how quick it spools. It will also mean you need less pressure to achieve the mass airflow you need to burn the fuel.

If you are actually going for 1200+ you may want something bigger like a pair of 68-70mm primaries, and a manifold charger in the 74-76mm range.

As far as 850cc's of fuel, I have no idea.

Ive been planning for 1200+ on fuel for a while. I figured using 1000hp as a guide line would make the make the math easier since this doesn come up much.

I know good a well that twins are more than capable of 1200hp, I just like the wow factor.

Although with all of this Im really starting to wonder if I would be better off shoving an 8.3 in the damn truck. LOL

Two s468/74/.8 or 1.0 atmosphere chargers, and a s474/86/1.32 manifold charger. proper wastegate setup before manifold charger, dump to atmosphere. 13mm, quick cam, ag gov set to cut @6500, set at 750cc, 38-43 BTDC absolute.Probably about a 5x22 or 26.

triple compounding has been tried and failed miserably...but 2 into 1 seems to work.

Ive often wondered how 2 Hx-35's into one large secondary would spool on a hot street truck.

I knew a guy who ran 2 Hx-35's by splitting the manifold...... The truck spooled like a pig as it only had 1/2 the amount of exhaust gasses to each charger.

Change the pump to an 13mm quick cam, auto gov, set at 5k. And a Extremely well ported 24V head. 6x18's or 6x20's some where in that area. Timing in the 25-35* spot.

Same on the chargers with 0.8's on the primaries and a 1.10 on the manifold with a big arse external gate.

Would that sound workable?

But the thoughts you quoted are nothing like what you mentioned. Everyone here is talking a larger manifold charger, and then hanging the 2 HX-35s, type setup.

something like this Doug?

need more RPM to have a broader powerband. It should spool around 28-3200 RPM

Is that my setup or the one you described?

An ag gov is out for me, is it possible to squeeze more than 5k from an auto gov?

I didn't read the whole thread, but Diesel Power magazine had an article on Scheid Diesel's pulling truck and it has three hx-80's according to the article. Plus it has a 12 piston p-pump:hump:

And it doesn't show much, I've seen a Quad turbo tractor with that 12 cyl pump in there shop back in 03', there knowledge has always been there just not on a truck.

Good to see Haisley's on the front cover of that issue.

So let map out a street set for 800 hp worth of air, it would be for the cool effect mostly.

1.What manifold charger
2.What (2) Atmosphere chargers

Using my SWAG method:

A 66 with and external gate on the manifold and (2) 62mm primaries? Add the proper exhaust housings for the rpm an whats availible for the turbo frame your using?

My thought.

Hum, I have a T-66 Ball Bearing cartridge turbo that spools like yesterday with a too small housing .58 that runs 1 to 1 at 40 psi, an external gate and a T-4 manifold.

Good read...I know little to nothing about the air side of things...keep this thread going!
