So basicly the original V2 that is licensed for the vehicle is the only one that has the license for it not just a license that covers that vehicle for any V2?
The simplest explanation is that you need to mate a FlashScan V2 to an ECM. It's that UNIQUE combination of THAT FlashScan hardware and THAT ECM Serial number that exclusively uses a license. (ie the license is exclusive to THAT PAIR).
You are not restricted to a 1 to 1 ratio, however there is a cost involved in tuning the SAME ECM with multiple FlashScan devices. (and for the purposes of this demonstration, tuning multiple ECM's with the same FlashScan device)
You can mate 1 FlashScan to multiple ECM's, using multiple licenses AND/OR you can mate 1 ECM to multiple FlashScan devices, using multiple licenses.
Given the ability to create, email and share files WITHOUT licensing, this process suits 99% of customers in 99% of cases. There are a couple of situations where it doesn't work; namely when the customer doesn't want to tune their truck, so they pay someone to do it, then they decide they want to purchase FlashScan down the track (although they do get 2 licenses with purchase).
For Duramax, most if not all of our resellers offer a starter tune with purchase. To do this, they sell you FlashScan, you download your stock tune and email it to them, they modify and send it back for you to flash. (they don't actually use their V2, you use yours).
Does this explanation help?
sounds like it might be closer than we think, just makes a guy wonder if you have to dyno tune your truck with a Smarty SSR I wonder how much time will need to be spent with EFI to dial it in? or do you think it'll be easier since it shouldn't just be a "guessing" game
Our software will give users the most comprehensive scan tool in the market - you will still need to work for your result though. Download your tune, make a change, reflash it, then LOG the changes. Review and interpret those logs, make more changes and repeat. My best guess would be that over 90% of our Duramax customers make good power and have great street manners in their daily driver without the assistance of a dyno.
