Getting my 180 benched

Just talked to dan at CDS and was addressing the same thing getting a 180 pump reworked and benched. Something around 500cc+ mostly everythig except a cam.

Question is what have others experienced with price for the work done compared to outcome of flow numbers? If we could see a list of what was all done , the cc's , and lastly the price. ?

Cds was on the high side, when I called around. Id look into northeast diesel, 01ppump on here.

Yea that has been one of the downfalls of CDS but I have only dealt with them on injectors and just own application chargers for our tractors and equipment. Have heard they do great work then I heard they cut corners ?

Anyone else?

Northeast diesel or DPE both have excellent reviews here.

Seth racked and balanced my barrels, installed a rack plug, pin timed it, marked the plate for the fuel delivery, adjusted the pop pressures on my injectors, and installed and dialed in my 4k kit for $350 shipped. Pump flowed 500cc with the plate full forward and 600cc with the plate out. This was on a 215 pump. Pulled it out of the box, installed it, fired up and idled perfectly with no adjustments. Pulled hard up to 4000. Very very impressed with it.

That sounds very reasonable just got my injectors popped and ran through by CDS I was in Columbus at the time so had everything checked . Injectors did only have literrally 7 miles on them.

I will contact Seth at dpe and see what he recommends . And gets some prices . Anyone else with diffrent numbers ? Maybe northeast or cds? Just tryin to finish up before the season.backed off a 13mm and gonna just have one of my cores reworked.

Also where is dpe located?

i just had northeast go thru a 13mm ppump and i can say customer service is by far best ive had and prices ended up bein great!

They just called me and let me know that the pump is leaking at the shaft seals. Said it'd be 250 for new shafts and seals, because the shafts can wear too, or 50 for just seals, and hope that fixes it. I told him just do the seals, as im already stretched thin as it is lol. He said he's gonna bench it in the morning.

Shop said they're finishing up the pump timing now. Flows Just over 500cc. Also said he found a bunch of stuff in the gov housing. I need to talk with him more when I pick it up for specifics, and to see how far off each barrel was.

They said the part sitting in the gov housing was a solid shim. No idea where the hell that came from.

Also said it flowed over 500cc with the work I did to it. Said all the barrels were within 5cc of each other, even with me racking them! Might be time for some larger holders....

Holders will not gain you much as to going to .093. Thread Weston posted awhile back about how the larger holder did not increase CC's . And there is testing in the thread he done to show for it. Just a FYI. I bought the .093 billet holders for and didnt notice much difference.

You mean lines help more than holders? At point point are stock holders a bottleneck then?

It really only mentioned holders a couple times, and the general consensus was that they're useless, unless the spring is changed too. I wouldn't know what to do for a spring lol.

That's usully the problem the spring.and needle are shimmed wrong.and.require different springs.

The very first post in that link sums it up. Less cc's with .93 holders than stock ones ...

I'd stick with stock lines for fear of causing driveability issues.

Not bad advice. I often wish i didn't get the .093 lines because I'm not sure if they are some of my problems.

And I see it as an unnecessary expense at streetable power levels.
