HTT wastegate TEMPORARY FIX, while waiting for the real

They flutter, it is a spring, there isn't a dampner on them is it? HTT told me they don't like the spring actuated ones, because they flutter. I didn't ask anymore. He just asked what kind of actuator I was using.
The air actuated one basically has the air acting as a damper.

As far as the seed program, what are you saying, you mean they have a potential for a big problem or??

No, they will have housings on hand to swap out.

Mine fluttered with the boost and spring loaded one.

The spring actuators have no dampening to them. So it will jackhammer the wastegate. That is what I am trying to say. The air on the boost actuators will lessen the jackhammering. The spring actuators could have the potential to be harder on the wastegates is what I am saying.

I finished this just in time. Mine is starting to act up. Noticed it last time I dyno'd. Really lethargic right now. Guess it's good to have an extra piece or 2 laying around.

Yeah, I agree, mentioned this before they had the potential to do that, my flappers broke right off the arm, FRAGGED my primary turbine :bang.

I have heard the spring actuators are a no no though. HTT said to take them off.

I believe its because they didnt come up with the idea.

Maybe Chris from E.D. will chime in on the wastegate actuators.

I was told the diaphram style one have a problem with leaking and causing flutters.

HMMMM!!! I wonder if anything came out of my top turbo housing when mine started acting up and dinged my Primary turbine????
My boost number seemed decent though..Of course if I do have an injector issue..that could be the cause..

My pucks were still in and everthing looked normal but Htt said it was jacked up and was the OLD style turbo....Somehow I got an Old turbo (1 yr. old) even though I got my kit in Dec. 08 ...Installed Feb.09....

I guess I'll need to check my primary too....Not looking forward to that though...That things hard to get to....I instaled them OUTside the truck!!! lol :bang

I don't see them saying that, as they don't make the wastegate actuators either. Anybody ever wonder why the put shocks on cars? Similar principle.

E.D. makes them. I have one coming on my new turbo from them. They said it is a much better design than Bullseyes and cheaper.

I mainly got one put one because its easier to adjust, you dont have to mangle the drain tube, and they look nicer than the pitted rusty thing from HTT.

Anyone know what the tolerance is for turbo shaft end play?

I just got done reading the other thread about the silver bullets and the shaft play. I am also curious to what the specs are. I am going to have to check my Silver64.

silver bullet has the most shaft play but thats not end play tony

the way i understand it they are not supposed to have any end to end

means the thrust is toast

how much does yours have ron?

I know who makes E.D's you were indicating that since HTT didn't come up with the spring actuator, that was why they said they didn't like them. I was saying that HTT doesn't make either actuator.

So the people having trouble are using the spring type actuators?

Is anyone having problems with the diaphragm style?

I personally know of noone having trouble with the spring type actuators, HTT said that the spring type actuators aren't the best route to go, never got into anymore discussion than that.

A few in this thread with problems with WG not sealing, have the spring type.

Jason
Big Swole or anyone else with MPI twin kit.

Im unsure on Ron and Joesixpack.

I was gonna buy one of those spring type, but i think im gonna stay away.

That dampening affect makes sense to me.
