HTT wastegate TEMPORARY FIX, while waiting for the real

Got mine apart this morning. It's a bit over a year old. Has the skinny arm setup. It's still sealing pretty well. My actuator had loosened up(haven't checked it for a while) and was opening up about 10psi earlier than where I originally set it. I'm going to put one of the new assemblies in it while I have it apart. Don't think there will be any further issues as long as I check the opening pressure from time to time. I have a 16cm housing, tow, daily drive, drag race(11.6's before new pump), and dyno(818hp). I don't beat on it, and I don't see 1600deg egt's. That probably helps alot. I'll post a side by side of the assemblies later.

I personally know of noone having trouble with the spring type actuators, HTT said that the spring type actuators aren't the best route to go, never got into anymore discussion than that.

My 62/71/13SS using the MPI wastegate actuator had a SEVERELY bent arm...the pucks were resting on the side of the housing! The HTT shop is only about 10 minutes from my house, so I brought the turbo in to the shop. I told them this was from one of Nathan's twin kits and I had the spring type actuator with me, so when they installed the new wastegate arm/pucks, they setup my actuator with the proper clearance (they didn't have the current fix out at this time so they just took the arm/pucks out of a housing they had in the shop). I think they said it was like 5/16" or something like that (don't quote me on it). They said several people send in their turbos and actually take their spring type wastegate actuator off before sending it in (almost like trying to hide it), but they told me that day, they didn't care. And it was better if they sent in the actuator with it, so they could set it up with the proper clearance. I'm sure if they thought that was causing the problem they would've said something to me about trying to go a different route. I haven't noticed a fluttering problem over the past several thousand miles I've put on with this arm. I'm sure each successive attempt at fixing the arm has gotten better. Hopefully the new one they have in the works will be the final fix. On a side note, I'm getting pretty quick at installing and un-installing these twins! :bang

Thanks for posting that man....I feel like they wouldv'e said something about it as well....I did remove my spring actuator the first time I sent mine in but it wasn't to hide it...I just didn't want it to come up missing or something and be without one until they could find it or replace it..

I've gotta send it back in late this week for the new fix, so I'll send it in with the spring attached and ask them to set it for me to their spec!!!

Thanks J.

I know who makes E.D's you were indicating that since HTT didn't come up with the spring actuator, that was why they said they didn't like them. I was saying that HTT doesn't make either actuator.

Engineered Diesel makes E.D's

here's a side by side.

I'm down/ one of the pucks is flopping loose with nearly full rod pressure. I suppose tomorrow I will get it boxed up and sent to HTT.
On a side note I have to wonder how long it has not been sealing? I mean it may have been leaking for a while now?? Today I dynoed again new electronic combos and my numbers were down yet again. At that point I new there were issues so I pulled the cover and then pulled the housing.

What does one think a messed gate will cost you on the drum?

read where one guy said he was down buck n a half

i dont see how tho

when mine went it felt a little diff up top, maybe, maybe not, maybe it was just cuz it took so long to get it lit so it seemed so wounded

and maybe thats the diff between dyno and real world

I figured your gate must of been in rough shape, considering how little time mine lasted, It would cost on the drum, thats for sure.

thought ron said you were one of the guys gettin the new fix joe

did ya get it back already?

Chris talk about needle in the hay stack. After a while you seem to forget how these bi*ches are suppose to spool...
So does a bad gate cost you on the top- upper rpm

Don't blame the actuator...

Blame 1500 degrees of 60 plus psi SMACKING IT!

It needs to be bigger!

I just double checked mine...the puck furthest from the arm is not sealing. This one has less than 5 k on it.

Ron HELP!

Man There are some serious issues with these things. A friend of mine just told me his has in and out play and his pucks are leaking again. I cant wait for the fix!

I just pulled mine apart, they seem to be fine.
Locked tight with spring pressure & spin freely when spring tension is released.
Curiosity got the best of be so I had to check.

Well. My housing will ship tomorrow from HTT. I paid a little extra for 3 day to have it by Friday.
