HTT wastegate TEMPORARY FIX, while waiting for the real

I've never priced an upgrade from ED. They seem to stay pretty busy, and that's a good sign that they are doing something right. I don't like to be down for long periods of time though because i use my truck to pick up material for my shop. Makes it tough to wait 3-4 weeks for a gate or turbo upgrade.

I waited a week for a compressor and turbine upgrade.

I was told 3-4 weeks both times i tried to order a wastgate. I guess pipefitters get better service than machinists.:hehe: But you keep pimpin for them. Maybe that 62/68/.8 will be free.

This is the first time I ordered anything from them, they did 3x more work to my turbo than HTT wanted for just a turbine upgrade, for the same amount of money.

I work hard for my money, actual manual labor. I cant sit on a chair and push buttons and have a machine mill something out for me.:poke:
A good friend of mine is a machinist and he really believes he works hard for his wage.

You just have to mention Westons name.:hehe:

Everytime I post something about them I feel like I am a vendor.

I just like good honest quality service.

I originally tried to go back to HTT but they seemed as they just blew me off and wanted me to order a new turbo.

I just want people to know there are more than 2 turbo shops out there.
I ordered that 62/65/14 about 3 years ago from HTT and it was $1100 with the downpipe and shipping. They now want close to $1800 without the downpipe and shipping and nothing has changed with the turbo.
How much of a markup has BW had over 3 years? Its not like the parts HTT sells is anything custom like they promote.

I'm not the only one that thinks HTT and II are a ripoff.

Go take a long walk off a short pier. Who the hell do you think you are? Just because I work at a desk doesn't mean I'm not drained after working my ass off all day. Keep in mind dumbass, if it wasn't for folks sitting at their desk engineering the crap they tell you to build, you'd have nothing.

Just really pisses me off that just because you work in an A/C office building, your work ethic isn't the same and it's "less work".. yeah. right.

tony597fitter, do you realize that if it wasn't for "desk jobs" you wouldn't even have a website to be an idiot on too? geez..

Was it the Chicken or the egg that came first?:poke:

isnt the purpose of this site so that we can all work together to make our trucks perform better?

well, back on topic I suppose.

Well, I decided to put the turbo sock and blanket on. The gate is working very well with the bulls eye. It's tough to tell, but I'll try to get a good look at the gauge with zero traffic on the road, but there might be a very tiny flutter. I'll be checking boost leaks and re-adjust valves right now since my Sunday work maintenance is canceled. Going to take zstroken's advice here on to tight of a lash as I have them set at .08 and .18. Move them to .1 and .2

No 6th gear runs, but ya know what.. Trucks freaking fast again. :) 4th gear, tires go up in smoke, well as much as they can from a 45mph roll to 3800rpm. Once the charger lites, the tack instantly reads 3800.. In 5th gear, it "kinda wants to" break lose. kinda spins a little and grabs spins and grabs.. 4x4 is necessary up though 5th gear now it appears. So this is a good thing!

in 5th, I can see 45psi. 4th about 40psi. Smoke is minimal now once the charger is lit. TNT/R #6 TM2, Timing 2, Rail 2.

So far. I'm happy. I can't wait to see what kinda numbers on the dyno this thing will do now.

I suppose the next upgrade is a call to Hamilton for a cam. :) Depending how well that lites the charger, I may need to step up a size in the wheel. Things for next year to plan on.

HTT quoted me $350 to upgrade my turbo to a 64 and fix the wastegate and ED quoted me $420 just to upgrade to a 64.

As far as I can tell, my SS housing is still doing just fine. Boost is rock solid with no fluttering and it's 3 years old.

i think the folks that are havin the problems are the ones that have the tighter housing and tow heavy

65 wheel in that tight 13 housing creates a lot of pressure gainst the pucks

as ron allen and others have stated with the 16 and or the larger turbine its harder to bend the shaft

guess a lot of it has to do with driving style as well

just glad this is the last time i will have to mail my turbo back

i love htt's turbos

I've noticed that it depends on who you talk to at htt for prices. I was quoted 600 for an 66 wheel and compressor housing. no labor.. The guy wanted $400 for the wheel. I'm like, I just got a 64 wheel from you for $150 2 months ago.... the price came down to $400 after that some how...

Hmm. I don't remember who I talked to but it was $350 to just swap the wheel. That doesn't include a rebuild though.
