Issues after cam install

I think the rings on the piston would stop the airflow, and let it build some pressure.

Wonder if the other 5-6 trucks have done a boost leak test and what could they hold psi wise.

Anyway to get the other guys with issues to post up in here??

I can relay the message.

Cool and the more info from yourself and other the better.

Could there be anyway your having some injector issues?
When you swapped injectors where they new not remans, who's injectors, what% over, and did you go from 1 spray angle to another?

They are 100% over 143* BMS injectors new from exergy.

At this point it's all speculation. I'll keep digging when I can. Lots of work this week.

I am one of the five guys. Running a steed speed Mani, Wilson intake mani, fleece s468, 80% overs , 10.6 mm stroker, ported head, mahle ceramic coated pistons .020" over. And a 188.220. It has no balls down low. What so ever. S468 lag: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3VoaTm8zpFc"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3VoaTm8zpFc[/ame] here is a video of it.

Not pointing fingers. I am going to get it retuned and see if that helps any. I really can't imagine a Hamilton cam would spool worse than an OE cam. They have great customer service and are always helpful with technical questions.

Did all your issues start when the cam was installed and what all was done at the same time or was it just part of your engine build and all was done at once?

I just want to clarify and agree with john here.

I am no way blaming Zach. He has been helpful and answered all of my questions. I'm not a mechanic. I am a hobbiest. I can do and know a lot but cams aren't one of them.

If I have to put a stock cam in I will. And sure Zach will send me another one. He has already offered.

Well, the only reason I think the cam could be a contributing factor is that Gordon tunes my truck, he is running the same setup turbo wise and fuel wise. His truck will build 20 psi of boost at 1500 rpm. Mine sits flat at 7. I thought it was just an inherent quality of a big turbo, after seeing the way Gordon's spools, it's got me thinking....

Not an attack on Hamilton. My truck has so much top end it's awesome. The low end is certainly lacking.

what is the difference in tire size, gearing and converter between your truck and Gordons? Is it possible for you to run the same tuning? Also do you have the same injectors? I wish we could isolate what all of the differences are between the two trucks.

Zach

no differences.

We are both running 80% over injectors. As far as the tunes go, he built my tunes pretty much off of his setup. I will have to check his converter stall but I'm pretty sure we are in the same ballpark. Zach, I do have a ported head, I realize I am going to lose velocity. Do you recommend trying to loosen up the intake valves? I never thought much about the engine being lazy down low until I saw this thread. Not pointing any fingers I am happy with the performance of your springs pushrods and cam. Was just wondering if there is anything I can try mechanically to wake it up down low.

Who's turbo are you running? Didn't see you mention it anywhere.

Both trucks are running same fuel setup, my truck has a slightly higher stall speed, but in my opinion lockup is lockup which both the videos were recorded in. Gordon is running a fmw s467.7 and I'm running a fleece s468 which has just a slightly bigger turbine side. But the trucks setups are pretty much identical, minus the camshaft. Both trucks are also running an OE intercooler.
