Let's talk S465

I know of a common rail with a cam I did and a 2.5" s400 I built that did 713rwhp and 1300+tq on a single cp3 and fuel only. So that shows what this turbo is capable of. It is a daily driver street truck and spools fantastic like 1400-1500rpm and its going already!!

I just ordered the cummins elbow, clamp and O-Ring from site sponsor Snedge, excellent customer service and he said he ordered some extra's to put on the shelf.

Justin

I finally got my S464 mounted last night, and installed the Cummins elbow as well. I'm going to run into the same problem Nick did I can already tell. I'm waiting to hear back from him on shortening the metal IC pipe. Will post when I have figured it out.

x2. And how does it drive on the street?

See Aug CTD03 this is for my 97. ;)

PM Kino Fab I think he's running a 2nd gen manifold on his 04.

That should have said "see sig" but my stupid blackberry pearl won't let me edit.

No street time yet as IC is not hooked up yet. I expect it to be very laggy it has a 83mm exducer. Its a pulling charger not a everyday one.

ive been doin some thinkin about the setup i plan on running with my truck. i know i am goin with a s465 since they flow more and can handle more power and are cheaper than a s366. i know a s465 flows more air than a s366 but how much compare in boost numbers. could you say a s465 at 40psi flows the same amount of air as a s366 at 55psi. and if this is the case would you even need to run studs if you run a external gate on a s465 set a 40psi. im just thinkin here im just curious if you can make the same power out of a s465 at lower boost than a s366

more air at less boost will still wquate to more air in the cylinder which means more cylinder pressure.

you will need to address the issue with studs, o-rings, fire rings, garmonized head bolts whichever you choose.

thanks i just wasnt sure looks like ill go ahead and get studs ordered feel safer than running head bolts

Boost is a measure of restriction, that's it. Wether it be going in the engine, intake manifold and valves, or coming out, exhaust valves and turbine. In this instance, with less boost you'll have more dense, cool, efficient air with less drive pressure= potential for more power. If you're even considering a S465 you need headstuds.

Were you able to get the pipe cut? I think I returned your pm but want to make sure.

thanks thats what happens when i drink and work on my truck i start to think do i really need this it would be alot cheaper without it
but ive got A1 h11 ordered and im just goin to replace them one by one and do orings when the head gasket goes

Chop saw made very quick work of it!:rockwoot: I only shortened one end though and it will work.

Finally got my compressor housing back yesterday so we installed it on the turbo, and trying to hook that elbow up is a :kick: I had to go buy a longer piece of silicone hose (aka IC boot) because mine was to short for the arch/bend that the elbow is in trying to hook the two together. I will post pics tomorrow evening.....big rig shop had constant tension clamps hanging up over the desk...but couldn't get me a price.:bang Told me to call Fastenall?:what: Oh well my buddy's a manager I'll see what he say's, but I'd like the added piece of mind considering the hose is kinda in a 45* bend.

Pics of my S400 elbow installed finally. Its been a :bang:bang:bang to lemme tell ya!:kick:

This is the best possible way I could get it the intercooler boot without a 45* intercooler boot.

So hows it run!?

Doesn't lite until 2000/2100RPM's since I'm stock camed, but I haven't opened it up yet as the truck only got driven for the first time in 6 months the other day. It was also only the 2nd time it got started in those 6 months...so I'm trying to take it in strides....should be able to let you know either tomorrow or Thursday.

That is one reason I don't like the cummins elbow. Looks like a boot eater and/or blower.

i have a home made elbow thats roughly the size of the cummins elbow and i didn't have to cut my pipe or do any of that. ill get pics of how mine is mounted, no blown boots, or any issues like that.
