Let's talk S465

i have a home made elbow thats roughly the size of the cummins elbow and i didn't have to cut my pipe or do any of that. ill get pics of how mine is mounted, no blown boots, or any issues like that.

I am not saying it will, but after tearing 2 of the high performance boots. It gets a little frustrating.

I rotated my housing towards the fender well/shock mount as far as it would go & rotated my i/c pipe & boot a little & it went together great with no cutting or kinks in my boots. I also used the cummins elbow.

That's $10 worth of silicone hose from the local big rig shop....if it tears I'm not broke...but I get what your saying. ;)

I noticed a 90* elbow on a detroit with an S400 charger the other day at a local trucking company. It seems to be a little longer between the V-band flang and the elbow. Not sure of a part number though.

Here is a pic of the elbow I used... its a slightly larger radius than the the 3957380 elbow, but I already had it off my HT60 and luckily it fit my S400. Its a REAL tight fit, but I've got her on now!

I don't think its a Cummins part... kinda hard to read some of the logos after I sandblasted it, but the P/N is 23508407. Only drawback is it takes a 4" I/C boot.

I was told $1800 would get me a custom built s465 about 6 weeks ago...

WHATS CUSTON ? THE NAME OR THE TURBO? SOME PEOPLE SAY THERE CUSTOM BUT THERE JUST RIGHT OF THE BOX FROM BORG WARNER . U WOULD BE AMAZED BY WHAT S400'S SELL FOR . U CAN BUY 3 OR 4 OF THEM FOR WHAT THEY SELL FOR AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN "customized" :hehe:

Not sure what all had been done to it, but I ended up getting one for less...

Well i partially agree with you here. But the box stock "465" is not a 65 mm compressor wheel, it is 63.5mm and according to everybody that has run one, its not enough air. The custom ones we refer to are building them sorta from scratch. They start with the turbine size that matches our setups which is bigger than the 74mm 465 turbine for instance my buddies is a 88mm turbine. Then they take a big compressor wheel like a 80mm and cnc a custom grind on it to make it 2.6 inlet but has alot of meat in the middle and top side. Then cnc the comp cover to match the wheel and charge 1800-2000$ Im not saying they are not worth the money, but i spent half the money and basically have the same setup.

By the way, is that a Terry schaffer cam from ohio? I deal with him alot.

Tim
