Pro Street 1/2 Ton Suspension Conversion

just read back and saw the rack is 12.5 lbs, thats awesome that you pulled 100lbs off the front by doing almost nothing.

im going to start looking for a power rack, i wont loose as much weight, but atleast the dead spot in the steering will be gone. LOL

The truck will be again weighed on a certified scale. :hehe: I removed all this weight up front and thinking about it now a very good portion of that weight will return in the front- in the form of TURBOS.:ft::ft:

:hehe:

Lock up has to be the way to go right....there is lots more that use a lock up style than that do not, due mostly prob. because the late model trannys are used and the trucks and computer systems are set up that way and its just retained. There are a few us us odd balls out there that choose to do diff. and making a fluid coupling style convertor work just fine though. Convertor and tranny shops must have made a mint the last few years in the diesel market alone... there have been a few failures. Ive had no less than 12-15 diff. ones in my truck but the one thats in it now has at least a couple hundred sub 6 second passes on it.

For his next stunt he will lug the whole truck up to the third floor and weigh it.:poke:

Amazing how much dead weight you can get rid of off of these trucks.

Many have had luck going non lock-up, the high hp fuel only guys have a different plan. Maybe have a conversation with someone that has a few hundred passes, see what they say, rather relying on the "intranet" for technical information.

maybe instead of answering with 3 word smart ass answers provide us with some information that might help some people out.

Got ya, so You have no idea.

You haven't said anything.

Sorry for the derail Jeff.

Yes he has.... Some non- lockup setups are working extremely well in some cases.... The Pro-Mod guys have been doing it for years. It is no secret that the trucks with large, hard to spool twins go through converters like I change pants. The high stall requited to help light the chargers kills a converter when it goes into lockup. This is not a problem for most of the street driven guys, but there are some 4wds that would eat a converter after a pass or 2. The crummy part is that pulling lockup out hurts ET. I know of one team that lost over 3 tenths by taking lockup out in the 8th...
