I will buy one

I need a number to call and I will buy one today. If it works like you say then I will be the first to get on here and tell everyone. I'm always up for saving money. I really hope it does work good because I will need 3 more if they do. That would save my customers a bunch of money.

Well, she's all shined up and ready to get muddy.

I hope the location of the nozzle is OK. I installed it just before the turbo and turned it to spray directly on the turbo. The nozzle holder was a bulk head fitting so this was the easiest location.

I mounted the 5lb bottle on the fender. It should work for now until I can maybe find a roll bar bracket for the bottle.

that is kind of close n the nozzle to the wheel, shouldn't be any trouble , I have never ran one that close. post u vids of the mudd passes if you get the chance....

Hello all. We made it back in one piece including Bodacious. We had a great time and met several old friends and made several new friends.

I'm still disappointed. This thing is so finicky when spooling it's getting extremely aggravating. I'll have to give the poor powerglide credit after this weekend. The temp gauge was pegged on three of the six runs. Of course, with a looser converter, this shouldn't happen any more. I made four practice runs. I got it spooled on the second, third and fourth pass, but, it took several seconds even with the nitrous on. Before the fourth pass, we pulled the .030 jet out and drilled it to .125". This helped, but, it still took several seconds to get this thing singing. I also had a hard time letting go of the nitrous button.:D So, I went ahead and just held it down the entire time I was making passes.

I'm pulling the converter tomorrow evening and sending it back to FTI. It might be a mistake, but, I am demanding 3,500rpm stall this time.

Anyway, enough talk. Here is the fourth pass I made. She spun hard out of the hole so I had to shift and dang near tagged the guard rail.

This is my first eliminator round. I was placed in an index from 4.40 to 4.79. The weather changed and the air cooled down to the point I could spool pretty good. I ended up running a 4.404 at 79MPH in 300'. At this point, I had the field covered.

In my second round of eliminations I could not get spooled to save my life. I have no idea why unless the nitrous just didn't work for some reason. So, I bumped in anyway and was handed my ass as I slowly rolled onto boost about half track.

Today, my son Craig hit the nastiest mud pit know to man. We really didn't prepare the truck for this much water so I'm sorta glad things turned like they did. This is his first try. Just like his daddy, when he let go the trans brake he also let go the nitrous button. lol

I begged the track owner to let him have another go and I thank him for agreeing. All the trucks were pulling hard to the right on take off and Craig's run was no different. Instead of climbing the wall, he let out of it and was done. If you'll watch closely, she was up on that crap until he let off. I'm thinking if he had gone straight, the water would have killed it. Even at this short of a distance, the air cleaner was sucked into itself.

When we pulled the air cleaner back at the pits, muddy water was actually in the turbo. So, I did the best I could to kick my retarded self in the hiney and I'm crossing my fingers the 480 isn't hurt. We washed it out when we got home and all looks good as of now.

I have not run water and don't have any experience with it. I run nos on my truck and like it. a good progressive controller and a nos system can really help dial in the power to the pavement...

I have not run water

I have it now and I don't think its doing much good. When I kick it on at idle, you can hear the engine change just a little and the pressure gauge only reads 10psi. I haven't been able to watch this gauge at all when making boost to see if the water pressure climbs along with boost pressure.

Regardless, we ran all weekend without the water on and I was thinking about just removing the water system entirely and installing nitrous jets where the water jets were previously.

I would like to ring as much power out of this thing as possible. It's obvious at my current power level, I won't be able to hang on to my $1,000 in the street challenge for very long.

I'll get some pics up of where my water jets are located (3 places) and I'd like some recommendations on what size nozzles you fellas would start with.

Do I need a solenoid for each nozzle?

ok,, dam i feel bad for that converter.. maybe you should pipe the water down to spray and cool it down lol..
second ya you need a looser converter.. your going to kill that tranny..
third.. you should put some more nitrous to that thing for spooling.. not in front of the turbo but behind the turbo where it cools the pressurized air.. And then add another stage of nitrous to come on at say 15 or 20psi, a big kit lol.. you have way to much fuel already... and you are able to run prolly another 3 or 400hp of nitrous in that second stage..
how does that sound lol..

I would remove the turbine housing and check out the turbine blades. Usually when heavily fueled nitrous fed diesel motors get harder and harder to spool, the turbine blades are eroding away from the late fuel/nitrous burn in the exhaust housing.

If all looks good, then proceed with your changes to the tune-up, be it removing water and adding more nitrous, or plating back the pump a little to cut down on that late fueling.

I too agree that based on the smoke output at full power, it definitely could pick up several hundred horsepower with a second bigger nitrous kit.

I'm starting to get brave. I'm thinking of pulling the water injection and replacing with NO2.

Please let me know your thoughts (this means you bones and JQ)

Even though it sucks because they're heavy, I really would like to see a set of compounds on your truck. If you stuck a 62 under that 80, it would spool a million times better. Maybe you can start a "lightweight twins" build thread!

If you do run nitrous, keep an eye on your EGT gauge, with as much fuel as you have, you can melt 'er down in a hurry.

LOL, that is definitely an oxy-moron. Unfortunately though, I know you are right. I have been studying on the compound deal for a while. I was thinking more like a +/-106mm something over a 476. Get rid of the diverter valve and build a custom header. I'd still be heavier, but, not by much. These stainless diesel manifolds have tremendous girth. lol

LOL, we've been watching it. That is until it goes past 1500*F and you kinda have to lean up to see the hidden needle. LOL I wanted a mechanical pyro so I used the banks piece. We've been lucky so far with the cool ambient temps. I can definitely see a meltdown coming, I just hope it happens toward the end of the season.

DEZLFREK, I can smelllllelelelel what your cook'n. lol Good to hear from ya. How do those times stack up against other diesel sand draggers???

Hey Big Blue24, yea we have talked with the pump builder about taming the thing down at that break-over point. I hate to mess with it until I eliminate other barriers. That pump can really kick out some fuel and I have yet to bring it off the 650cc setting. Also, I'll definitely pop off the covers and check on the blades. I don't think this is the problem, however.

Hey Stingpuller, the chain drive did amazingly great!!! I need to build a drain plug for the bottom as it is currently full of mud. lol Here are a few pics of it out of the truck.

Here is a pic that shows the location of the three water jets. Can I spray say a 250 shot in one of these locations (cross over tube)?

I like it. Looked good on your mud drags. Have you tried backing the fuel down on the pump to help spool? Or retard timing alittle? I say take the water off and try the N20!!! Swiss cheese frame is working awsome!!! Hey Sting, Did you ever get any info on those cheap race converters? If so I need one also!

Nice job

I'm glad you finally got to have some fun! I wasn't kidding on the converter I will buy one if they will make it for around $400. Im game to try anything if it will work. I have never heard of freak show or don't know anyone who has but if it works I don't care what they call there company.

Converter's

I also posted on Yellowbullet about the converter. I was told to call and talk to them with a number so I'm going to call today and see what they say. Anyone want to bet it's more than $400?

never know, if it works its worth the money any way....
