#1 your hoodstack IS illegal in all 50 states under the federal noise suppression and exhaust emission laws. (I dont care that yer Po-po hasn't nailed you, they can and will some day.)

This is 100% true. I had it showed to me at the police station because i argued with a cop and told him to show me the books. Anything that obstructs vision is illegal including, window tint, stuff hanging from the rear view mirror and even stuff on the dash (i found that one out by the dot in my semi). The rules did not speciffically state hoodstacks, but they would deff. impair vision when smokin.

#2 I (ME) got sick and tired of the Cummins guys WHINING about Tomacs headlight being removed. Wasn't proper street equipment per the rules they cried!!!!

Allright boys, I said, headlights in....YEA!!! .........and Hoodstacks OFF :banned:YEaa...what?!!?!
oh dern.
Fair is fair.
A few of them learned to keep their mouths shut about stupid stuff, from that incident but not many!:hehe:

Thats funny right there. I dont understand this deal anyway. Its not like you are running 100mph down the track so i dont see it helping that much. Hell, let them take the whole front end off if they want too.

One of my greater moments in officiating history. Boss if you want to know who the whiners were, I'll tell you privately.

Ok, you got me Gene!

But there is no exhaust law in the state of indiana i am breaking, My exhaust meets every law that is in the books, and it would take a HUGE tool to pull me over for obstruction of view.

I hope you guys beat each other to death with insults :hehe:
Tis the season!

So if Nawzzz is legal on the track and illegal on the street........Why is my hoodstack legal on the street but illegal on the track???????

It is FEDERAL LAW that on a street legal vehicle the exhaust must exit BEHIND and/or ABOVE any occupants. No exceptions!!

i heard yall talk about nos and water spray but has anybody played with propane. Have heard of a few blown up motors with people useing this

propane alters timing in the engine due to it combusting before the diesel in the cylinders.

I guess the hoodstack really depends on the state. Cause quite a few of them in Texas.

Ok, I know you boys are young and dumb and full of..ignorance, but just because you see something on the street in Texas, doesn't mean its ok. It means they haven't got CAUGHT yet.

Prove it??*bdh*

Do your own research, try Google, EDUCATE yourselves, try reading posts instead of posting for a whole day, just once!!!!!:poke:

Prove it! And you cant say "Because I said so"!

I will find more when I have time.

§393.83 Exhaust systems.

(a) Every motor vehicle having a device (other than as part of its cargo) capable of expelling harmful combustion fumes shall have a system to direct the discharge of such fumes. No part shall be located where its location would likely result in burning, charring, or damaging the electrical wiring, the fuel supply, or any combustible part of the motor vehicle.

(b) No exhaust system shall discharge to the atmosphere at a location immediately below the fuel tank or the fuel tank filler pipe.

(c) The exhaust system of a bus powered by a gasoline engine shall discharge to the atmosphere at or within 6 inches forward of the rearmost part of the bus.

(d) The exhaust system of a bus using fuels other than gasoline shall discharge to the atmosphere either:

(d)(1) At or within 15 inches forward of the rearmost part of the vehicle; or

(d)(2) To the rear of all doors or windows designed to be open, except windows designed to be opened solely as emergency exits.

(e) The exhaust system of every truck and truck tractor shall discharge to the atmosphere at a location to the rear of the cab or, if the exhaust projects above the cab, at a location near the rear of the cab.

(f) No part of the exhaust system shall be temporarily repaired with wrap or patches.

(g) No part of the exhaust system shall leak or discharge at a point forward of or directly below the driver/sleeper compartment. The exhaust outlet may discharge above the cab/sleeper roofline.

(h) The exhaust system must be securely fastened to the vehicle.

(i) Exhaust systems may use hangers which permit required movement due to expansion and contraction caused by heat of the exhaust and relative motion between engine and chassis of a vehicle.

Well, I guess dockboy cant read.......that the exhaust law for a BIG RIG (see tractor/trailer)

Anyways...tractor pulling has had a big part in truck pulling. Go up to a tractor guy and tell him what the "Drag racers" have said in this thread......

Well like Dan Scheid said in a interview. when asked about the fad with diesels running nitrous. he said that its a fad that should just go away. Learn how to build a real motor.:kick:

Didn't Banks say something along the same lines once? Like get a real job and now he uses more per pass than most, if not everyone.

Well Einstein..........

Title 49 is a FEDERAL DOT regulation....It applies to ANY MOTOR VEHICLE that travels on any Federal Highway(Interstate).

But........ if the extent of your travels are from the pig farm to Billy Bob's Choke & Puke down $hithouse Lane for a dinner date with your girl-friend/sister then across the street to Douche Bag Drive-In for the weekly showing of "Deliverence" and some family groping.........then I guess you could consider it "Street Legal":hehe::hehe:

Gonna do it here, cant help myself ......... :owned: :hehe::hehe::hehe:

Thats the funniest thing I have read in awhile! :hehe:

I just want people to bring the biggest most powerful creations(sp?) to the track, so i'm for NOS. sorry purist/

But safety should be considered both on and off the track, being more shields on trucks, and maybe people not being so close to the track. It sucks that we have to sit in lawn chairs and metal bleachers to watch these events alot of the time. If only Gibbs got out of nascar and into sled pulling and built some very safe, modern, and smart tracks. But now i'm just rambling and dreaming.
