Sound like things are starting to look better for ya Swole! :rockwoot:
How big of a job is it to pull the pistons "in frame" ? Whats are some of the tricks?
Any updates? Keep checking, its kinda like waiting for the next episode of your favorite show.
I'm thinking its time to swap in a duramax if the cummins breaks again. Lol.
If I have another issue ( and I know I've said this before) it WILL be parted out!! Then a stock motor goes in...
Bluff...
stock, with a firetruck, 450 hp flash..........
Keep us posted Swole hope its nothing serious. I have a new set of Mono's in my build now that I recieved around November last year they do not have the mod's like Joesixpack did. I have not fired it up still on the stand but I am going to pull them and do the same thing before I fire this beast up. Maybe I will shoot them over the Eric at Mahle for the same treatment. Anyway very intrested in the outcome hoping to prevent any issues you had. Sorry for your many many loss's you deserve a good outcome already.
Chris.
I have waited to see the outcome of yours so no have not done that yet. I was thinking of fabricating new ones from stainless I dont trust the plastic retainer with the heat they seem to warp or disfigure slightly on engines that are pushed hard and this one of mine is not going to have a nice life. Thanks for the pics those look great wish mine came that way.
Well I hope I don't have to prove it to ya..That'd mean that I Swoled my 5th and final one..lol
Driving back now. Just shipped the pistons / rings to Mahle.
Will post pics later.
No broken rings.
Rods don't look bent at all.
Cylinder walls look good.
Rings don't look to have lost tension.
WTH???
I'm wondering ( wild shot in the dark )
Could have adding the REV-X so soon after just building, not allow the rings to seat and cause lots off blow by / oil burning??
Will have to wait and see if Mahle can tell me whats up.
Gonna have to check my cylinders again for actual bore size and then look at ring gaps on the ones I put back in.
