The Garmon built "Interceptor" build status!

I'd be happy, but I'm really expecting a little more than that...

750 was my goal!! But Would LOVE to see 800!!

I'd put money on 8 something. If I can do 723 with a single... you surely will be up over 8 :rockwoot:

If it rattles that bad I am wondering if an FCA is sticking or not operating? If so, dont drive it. Things like CP3's explode if the injectors dont go first.

Make certain the connections are on both FCA's real good. One may be not making a good connection and causing the pressure to be real high. One could also be sticking

I think the pressure may be too high right now.

Get a good rail gage on it ASAP. The guys on here can tell you which ones work the best for them. If all else fails I can program you a pressure box that will reduce low speed rail pressure. It will fool the ECM into thinking the pressure is already higher than it is at low speeds, thus reducing the pressure at low speeds.

Yes Sir,,,,Getting a RP guage is first on my list this coming week!!!

I'll check the connections as soon as I get down there!!! I'll be leave here in a few....

As for the RP values at lower RPM's....Once I get my guage, What should they be with this set up?? What's normal??

As for the custom pressure box, That sounds awesome!! How would that work?? Custom MP8 or a totally custom box from you?? Either way, Wow!! That'd be Sweet if it works on this rattle!!!

Thanks Don!!! :thankyou2:

Ok folks....

Leaving to go pick up the Interceptor and do some testing and checking of connections....

I'll be posting more results and dyno numbers soon I hope....May get a chance today if Jeff shows up while I'm down there.....If not, It'll be Wed. before I can get on the dyno...

STAY TUNED!!!!!!!!!!!!!

David, congrats buddy, and don't let that little rattle bother ya, mine does it too and our setup is identical except for the cut pistons. I have developed a theory as to the cause but haven't tried it yet. I think the rattle may be due to inadequate rail p for those first few seconds when you mash the throttle, mine too only does it when there is no boost. I am the ring leader in the "Increased Rail P. is Bad Crowd" but I was going to add some pressure (like mild and try moderate if that didn't work) with the Smarty to see if it changed anything. Don't think that just because you have dual pumps you couldn't possibly have inadequate rail p., the cause here isn't lack of pump muscle but inherent in the software of the truck, I have seen this on a MODIS, you hit the throttle and the rail p. drops 3-5 K for about 1 second and the rattle occurs at this time, then quickly recovers. I am sure Ty experimented with this and evidently it didn't help. But I am going to do some tinkering when the weather gets better, why don't you give it a try and I will too and see what we come up with. Jay

If you put the TNT rail on #4, the truck will idle near 10Kpsi as apposed to 6-ish. that should help a little with the inital "drop" I would think. with my manual trans, with the rail up on anything other then stock, there is a slight hang on the RPM's and that's a bad thing for trying to shift decently.

My self I've noticed weird rattles if I give it to much throttle to quickly.

Big congrats man!!! Now we need dyno, high speed, racing, and burnout videos ASAP!!!

don't think Swole has had the worry of going through sets of expensive tires yet because of power and a uncontrollable urge to get stupid.

Dave... might as well put tire money in that tow rig budget LOL

Man that is awesome that you guys got it together. Can't wait to see the numbers!!

Rick

I'd be happy, but I'm really expecting a little more than that...

750 was my goal!! But Would LOVE to see 800!!

I hit 720hp at the BD Dyno Event with my 62/71/13SS over a S474 using Flux 2 injectors...and we weren't able to see full boost on that dyno. I'm POSITIVE with the correct tuning you should be seeing 800+ with the race covered S480 and Flux 3.3s! Are you using Nathan's cheater wastegate on the top turbo? I found that exactly 1 turn out gave me the ideal combination of EGT's, spoolup, and power. BUT, while you're on the dyno, go 1/4 turn in either direction and see what kinda power increases/decreases you notice.

You're really gonna love driving your truck now...since I did my twins, I get perma-grin every time I go for a drive!

I agree 100% with Jared... and once you get that thing tuned i think 830 is a good solid number....:rockwoot:

I'm more interested in the sound it's making more than anything else.
It's been described as both a fuel knock and a timing rattle....totally different things.
A timing rattle could be as simple as more tuning to clear it up.
Fuel knock scares me.

If anyone doesn't know the difference go and unplug the FCA on your truck while it's running....it'san ugly sound.

If it's that...I wouldn't drive it an inch till I figured out the source.

A quick check is a check for codes with your smarty box, if you have high rail pressure compared to commanded, you'll get a code.

Some guages are the order of the day though......they sure are handy.

Mine has the same rattleing sound as tritons. Just not that badd. Only does it under low boost though

Ok folks....I'm back home....

First off, I've not eatin a thing and am starving....I've just been too into my truck today...So I won't be on long until I get my tummy full...

Then I plan on going out for a little fun Play on the streets!!!!:evil
Try to do a little test and tuning...

Jeff was in a bit of a hurry and we only got a few runs.....Here is goes.....OH, this is Dunbars dynojet btw.....

Very first run was Smarty on sw9, rpm's HIGH, and everything else on default......As for the turbo waste gate tunning contraption that Nathan provides, I have no clue....It's just in there in the middle somewhere....Gotta get my other boost guage and I will be on that to get it right. ASAP........Anyway...............First run was 750.52Hp

The highest I got out of the few runs was 766.xx HP...I played with a few other settings and spring tension on the gate spring.......Like a dumba$$, I didn't write anything down...Was in too big a hurry...

So far I'm happy with the results but I was def. hoping for close to 800.....Oh well, I know the tunning thing takes time and gauges are needed!!!

Either way...750+ is Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!! :rockwoot:

BTW.....Jeff doesn't seem concerned about the rattle AT ALL.....He pretty much said "That's normal" & "About what I expected".......
He doesn't think it's as loud as TY's!!!!!!! I guess since it's MINE and I'm not used to hearing it, It just seems louder!!!

Jeff was pretty positive that with a CR and big injectors and the Pilot inj. event, That this is just Normal and we'll have to live with it......I sure hope we can come up with Something to help remove some of it at least!!! So PLEASE everyone be thinking and brain storming......We need all you Smart guys to fix this!!!! lol

BTW....

Don, I checked all the conections on the cp3's / FCA's and even put the dielectric grease on them..

Jeff hooked it up to the scanner and my idle RP is right at 8000-8400 psi........

Still had my MP8 hooked up but it was rolled off.......

Jeff didn't really think it was a FCA problem.....Either way, I'll get my gauges and go from there....

congrats on the truck. Sounds like you got one hell of a ride now. You should be in the 11's no problem. Can't wait to see it run at TS.
