Truckers, lets see your rigs!

Tired of open mouth breathing idiots that just believe what they're told and don't actually do any research.

Ad hom attacks are a sure sign that person has lost the argument.
So since the first page I find details how a higher tbn number is useful for treating contaminants such as SOOT, what say you?

He's right. Total Base Nitrates are in the oil to combat sulphuric acid buildup from crank case ventilation allowing moisture to condense and interact with combustion byproducts. Sulpher content was reduced, allowing TBN to be reduced, reducing ash downstream. Also, the crank cases are all filtered, one, to reduce oil vapor, and two, to reduce moisture infiltration into the crankcase.

If Rotella T4 is synthetic, it has the wrong PAO content for the seals. Synthetics have to add this, and either are higher or lower depending on manufacturer. That makes leaking seals almost guaranteed on a switch from base stock oil. It is partially why semi-synthetic blends exist, to moderate seal contraction or pushout.

Although it is worth pointing out that the soot is the vehicle for Sulphur to enter the crank case

Lost what argument? I was never in on this oil thing and I never once said anything about oil. Ever...

You came at me with that stereotypical “you don’t own your truck” bullchit... wtf do you want me to say to that? Cause I don’t really give a phuck what you think.

What is Total Base Number?

Typical amsoil marketing wank. Too high TBN isn't good either. It's such a small issue nowadays many oil samples don't even check TBN.

If you're worried about TBN just put in half a gallon of marine engine oil. It will bring that TBN way up. Why? High sulfur marine fuel.

So what is the TBN of these 8000 mile oil changes?

If you want to own your own truck I can probably find you an old T8 with a S60 for about the price of an old craftsman mower.

Messing around with my dads W900L today. We had to put in a new windshield wiper motor. Can’t for the life of us get the wipers to park correctly. We’re trying to get them low on the class to be out of view but get the whole window. Neither a seem achievable. They don’’t seem to want to park in the same spot either. Any insight.

Drivers side on top, passenger side on bottom?

EDIT: Truck is a 2000 W900L with a single piece curved class windshield.

I knew youd come around from that keyhole phase at some point:evil

After the big V now. Once you own a steel cab truck you’ll never go back. Rust is the new chrome.

The hot ticket would be that same T8, but frankenstein a d12 in it. Make sure all components are new enough to conform with all current ELD mandates.

That’s the only way to make any money. D12 and Elog is the ticket for a billion dollar business since you never have to buy parts or fuel. Elog freight pays 10x paper log freight.

Well I got the call to come get it when I want... we’ll see what happens. He wants to stop where he is and see what it does before he changes anything else to see what changes, his current stuff did.

God I hope he put a Detroit in it. Lmao

A 379 with a Detroit Is probably similar to when Rig Wrench found out his GF was a tranny. You raise the hood and it’s not what you were expecting. Only BRE probably wouldn’t be as excited as he was.

He said the over head wasn’t right. 4-5 smaller boost leaks. Fuel pressure is 85 at idle and will peg my 100lb gauge at high idle. Said his gauge plugged in outside showed 110.
We’ll see what that nets us. Prolly be next weekend before I’m back around to get it

I hate it when that happens. As the wise man Jim Norton once said "man up and finish"
