Well winter is officially here in SD, (AKA hunting seasons are over and there's nothing else to do other than be inside and stay warm), so i decided it's time to start another project. Last winter i put together a 12v for my 1997 dodge 2500.http://competitiondiesel.com/forums/showthread.php?t=73794 I decided that i wanted to put that motor in an excursion. I found a killer deal on a 2003 excursion with 230k miles on it. It is cursed with the 6.0l and i'll be doing it a favor by pulling that thing out. I believe the most difficult thing here will be programming the 5R110 but i am going to give it a whirl.

It's going to be a long process but i can only work on it on the weekends for the most part. I'll keep adding pictures when i get somehting done. Here's some pics of what i've got done thus far.

The day it came home:

Out with the 6.0!!!!!! It took me and a buddy WAY to long to get this out due to some rounded off torque converter bolts that somebody kindly left us.

I see you got started, looks good. Guess I should start a thread for my 06 F-250 King Ranch, so i dont feel left out. I got my stuff out and engine bolted back in to the trans so far.

yeah you should start a thread! i'm hoping to get the motor in this weekend as well. Have you made any headway with the 5r110?

Excactly what I want to do, almost got myself an 04 excursion with a blown V10 but they go for to much $$$ here.

Keep up the good work that ole Ford won't know what to do with a real motor in it

what size is your hot charge pipe conecting the two turbos? thanks

well the motor is in. Not bolted down yet as i have to slide the entire drivetrain back about 1.5 inch to allow the fan to clear the radiator. I have a couple issues to work out including the cold charge pipe. Other than that it went together nicely. There is a whole lot of room under the hood with the 12v in there Vs. the powerstroke!!

What all did you leave in the harness? Crank and Cam sensors, oil pressure sensor, A/C pressure and Compressor harness, Coolant temp sensor, anything else I'm missing? Working on my harness now.

Looks like you got it.

Ditch the 5r100 and go with the 4r100 or a built 47RE with manual VB. I loved my 5R behind the 6.0, but I have heard nothing but bad things when you try to get them to work behind a modded Cummins. They seem to do okay behind a stock 12V, but who wants a stock 12V???

i've heard good and bad... I have it, so i'm going to try it. If it doesn't work i'll go a different route.

nice.. I have a 12v in an Excursion im working one etc.. I am building twins tooand the Excursion heater / A/C box and the rear heater and a/c lines are a paint to work around. From your pictures yours is tight too. Can you pull your turbo out with out pulling the front off the truck?..I'm trying to get mine so its serviceable and every thing work and is easy to access.. so far its a pain.. I have a thread on the TDR about the build.
Thanks,
Deo

Hows the Swap comin along?

Slow and steady.... I don't have a bunch of time right now but it's coming. I got my air dog system installed this weekend. That excursion tank is a BEAR! I also built the down pipe, finished up the power steering, mounted and wired the cruise servo, and modified the throttle pedal to accept the 12v cable. I'll post some pics tomorrow.
