'34 international rat/drag truck

thanks for the compliments guys!! its been a fun build so far,i'm hoping to have it pretty much done by the end of the year.
the to do list is getting a little smaller= brakes, electrical, fire rings, injectors, build the trans, and 4 tires.

im thinking 5x.18's should be plenty for a 180hp pump that will benched/maxed. any opinions? turbos are 63/68/.88 & 80/96/1.32

I finished the brakes and steering this weekend. '54 gm drums front with f150 rotors/gm truck calipers in the rear. used a jegs kit to plumb it all to a gm master cyl. steering is a model t wheel hooked to a unknown manual 5 turn box that came with the truck.

why drum fronts and disc rear?
ed

Looks. the disc's are hidden, but the drums are out in the open. I really thought about disc front but they kinda look out of place on a straight axle.. plus the rear axle I got had no brakes so it was eaiser to build this setup

ok, that makes sense. somebody has a kit that covers a set of wilwoods and looks like buick finned drums and backing plates.
looking good, ed

Those are very cool but way out of my budget. If these drums dontwork I will end up with some junkyard discs. Right now its free to try them

Very sweet build.

One day I will build something similar. But until then, I'll drool over the pictures you post.

found the pic of when i first got it home. this is the only one before it got cut up.

Where did you find it?

Tobin

the pic was in a buddy's phone.

the truck was in osteen along with a bunch of other hotrods waiting to be built. i think since it was not a chevy or ford they never got interested. the story is it sat in storage in cailfornia for 20-30 years, then got shipped here but never made it in the shop to get built.
the old man i got it from daily drives a model A with a nissan diesel, and his 2 sons have mid 30's rat trucks that are some of the best in FL. I saw the trucks at a show and said i'd like to build one,and they invited me over to look at the IH. for $3000 i got it and a clean FL title.

hey steve the truck is looking good! steering wheel looks like it was ment to be in there. you going to have enough leg room?

Leg room sucks on the drivers side. but there is plenty on the pass side so y'all will be good.

more work done, trying to have this thing running for 11/24 daytona rod run and the rat rod show at Iron Horse Saloon.

bed floor hinges to get to the 12 gal fuel cell, batteries and 200gph airdog. the tag swings on two pieces of timing chain.
