$50,000 Purse for a Diesel Race!!

Half the field is full and the 2.6 rule decision hasn't been made yet. A Lot of people would like to enter this but got to have the rules out there and thats a big one.

Not really that big. It's September and you have all the way until the end of February or March to figure out how to make a 2.6 turbo work.

Well I need to know If I should get a new turbo or just bush down the 82.

Seems pretty simple.
The vehicle is limited to a 2.6 inducer bore single turbocharger. The compressor wheel must protrude into a 2.6” bore for 1/8”. The inlet will be measured using a 2.65 inch plug the plug must not be able to enter the inducer bore. A stock map width enhancement (MWE) groove is allowed. No MWE groove will be allowed that has a width greater than .200”. All provisions allowing air into the wheel other than via the bore and the MWE groove are prohibited. The vehicle driver will be responsible for making compressor wheel accessible for tech personal to measure bore and be able to inspect compressor wheel.

i was just fixing to post that but you beat me to it. essentially that throws anything cheap out the window. like i previously posted, for a large 400 to meet those rules you have to have the wheel clipped so it protrudes into the bore and the cover machined and depending on where you are located that could cost anywhere from 3-700 bucks on top of the cost of a turbo as apposed to just throwing a $50 bushing in there and being done with it. i personally would not do that cause i dont run 2.6 so if i did that it would ruin my charger to where it would only be a good for 2.6 but nothing more and guys running in a larger class who may want to come wont really want to have all that done then not be able to use their turbo again other than sell it and buy a new one and if they are going to do that anyway you might as well just buy one and have it done up and you would have a spare 2.6 charger. it may be worth it though as the payout for this race is awesome

Make sure to have the rules of racing outlined as well. .400 tree, .500 tree, autostart time limit, courtesy staging (or not) etc....

I had a few buddies who used to streetrace, so I can tell you where to look for nitrous. One of em had a camaro that had bottles behind the taillights in the rear quarter panels above the inner fenders.

Sneaky Pete bottles inside of edlebrock intakes on 5.0 mustangs, wires run through fake vacuum lines using cruise control buttons to fire it ?
Sound familiar? LOL
Won a few races with that set-up. :D

I have seen that but in a sheet metal oil pan, lines fed up inside the motor, wiring coming out of a "water temp sender". Block was machined and oil pan built with doing that in mind. Just depends how far someone wants to go.

Thats a good thing too... Keeps the industry growing, with new guys getting involved, even if they are doing it with used equipment it is still good for the industry!:Cheer:

And for the million dollar question (or $25,000 one).....what about courtsey staging? Ok to double bulb people?

This race should be a blast! Judging by dyno numbers off of our 2.6 Chargers it will be a mid 10 sec class at 6000 lbs.

Cool idea... Seems like a great way to promote the sport.

I see alot of people dropping some coin to get ready for this one, and alot of 2.6 chargers hitting the used market after the race...

UPDATE:

The Scheid 2.6 Rules are the RULES!! Jeff talked to Dan Scheid and this is the deal... ALSO...The SAME tech guy that was in charge of Tech at the Scheid sled pull will be at THIS RACE to tech this race!!! No bs allowed!

God I hope not.

We don't need folks throwing fist in the parking lots afterwards, so I'd say NO Double bulbing!!

Lets show the world that us Diesel folks can be more civilized than the average Joe!!

Anything that will make this a negative experience for ANYone, should NOT be done at this event....

If a truck in the other lane double bulbs you, don't get excited.... Just get your truck ready and roll in when your ready. Shouldn't be a reason for a fight at all.

I would allow bushings, won't see such a large advantage in a Drag Racing scenario.

Takes three bulbs to activate the autostart anyway. If someone double bulbs you, creep up without pre staging and let him burn down. That usually stops that nonsense.
