95' Junker Drag Truck

I strapped the Junker down to our MD-1750 Mustang dyno a few weeks back and it's best uncorrected HP number here at 5700' was 815 HP and close to 1600 ft lbs. I didn't try cutting back the fuel from the max 650 cc setting, instead I cranked up the timing to 38* and it very quickly destroyed the head gasket. It's almost back together and after a few heat cycles, we plan to actually tune it on the dyno and hopefully find a little more power, although the current turbo setup is maxed out and it drops boost as engine speed climbs over 3000 RPM.

Now that I have more access to "modern" turbos, I'm contemplating the next turbo setup and possibly going away from the S363/HT80 plan and going with a triple setup.... decisions, decisions....

815 is no joke.. Kind of crazy we are so numb to the big numbers being thrown around these days to think that isn't that much..
Great numbers..

I would really hate to see this thing get away from the junker theme with some brand new modern triples! What always drew me to this thread over the years was the attainable level of everything on it.

I was thinking the exact same thing. At some point I think he needs to start putting in premium points to really compete in different classes though.

Modern doesn't necessarily mean excessively expensive

Id try the 63/ht80. I was using a 83mm ht4b as a primary on my p pumped 24v. it made 813hp i swapped it out for an 91mm hx80 and made 1020hp. dollar per hp i dont think you can beat a big old holset.

What's your best et/mph? What does the weight calc say? You don't have any runs with the current combo right?

10.90 @ 126 MPH is still my best pass from a few years back in Bakersfield. I have zero full passes on the current combination. Down in Texas, I made one detuned pass with that soft 60' time that ran 12.x at 121 MPH. That same AFC LIVE tuning setting on our dyno did upper 600 HP uncorrected.

The Junker has a few hundred pounds of ballast in the back bed corner. It's race weight last outing was 5400 with driver.

I figured there would come a time that you would move on to more expensive turbos to get the performance you were looking for.

I have thoroughly enjoyed this build thread and all of your other super informative threads.
I get quite an education from this site.
