Ive SEEN THE LIGHT!!! Ppump drag truck build

The plate is about 3/4 of the way forward, the afc housing I slid almost all the way back. other then that we haven't messed with anything else on the pump. If changing dv's is only for clearing smoke, then I don't think its worth the bother since nitrous is going to help up out with that when were ready.

Im not terribly concerned, the only logic I had is that with smaller dv's, I would be able to turn the pump up more and not have my egt's at 1200 because I am washing it out so bad.

What's the difference between less rack and bigger DV's, and more rack and smaller DV's? If you're going fuel only, then swap DV's....if you're going spray, then leave the full cuts.

Slide the AFC forward, and pull the plate back is my opinion....that AFC is tuned to not let much fuel come in until about 35-40psi...at least it was

If your EGT's really are that low, pull the fuel back......or strap on the bottle

Don't be afraid to pull fuel out though....more is not always more

x2. I have been playing around with plates and also run Weston's comp style delivery valves. DPE benched my pump prior to the installation of these comp dv's and at this moment I have a zero plate in the second slot (slot 1 being all the way back slot 4 being around full forward). With no plate I had a hard time seeing over 50psi and explosion like smoke with the zero plate where it is i'm seeing around 55 yet still quite a bit of thick smoke just not quite like with no plate. Going to do some more playing. These delivery valves fricken pour out some fuel that is for sure. BTW I work with a tiny compared to your 475 s364 single and a stock 12v head so my air sucks compared to yours (OP).

The point that I was trying to make is that if we pull the fuel out then we are close to what you dynoed with a 71 @550hp. This truck can't do 550 on fuel. I know it will take time and tuning but I'm just thinking out loud here.

You gotta start somewhere...you asked for my opinion, I gave it....Lavon has some ideas of mine to work with, but you're always welcome to do as you please. It is your truck

You are absolutely right sir! I appreciate your opinion and am going to try what you suggested. I'm not trying to step on any toes, I'm just trying to think out loud here and hopefully get us to our goal in the future because I know damn well that a monster isn't created overnight. Hahaha....I just said monster

No problem, I'm here anytime (almost), and I will give my opinion when asked....it's worth exactly what you pay for it though;)

Have fun!

My bd gauge stops at 1875....

I can't believe you guys run EGT gauges on your race trucks!

Never mind, your race trucks don't belong in the junk yard like mine.

My 95' Junker isn't worthy of an EGT gauge, although I am curious to see how warm it's running since it's cleaner at full boost than my 300 HP daily driver.

Your truck hauls the mail Chase. Lavon took me for a little scoot around the block this evening. :drive:

What do you think joel? We have been working our tails off. I can tell its fast but I have no idea what to guess about a 1/4 time. Guess we will see Friday weather permitting!

Chris what are you talking about they are not aloud to do that that pump what they wish!!!!! That truck needs more timing before you do anything else!!! The afc was set perfect on that pump!!! Your right i don't know much about a p-pump i play with stupid little pumps, but i do know when they are tuned good. If you want to take a little fuel out i understand that. Fix one thing before you start even talking about the next!!!!

If you are looking to go to trails friday during the day let me know. A private group I belong to rented the track out for the morning. We talked to NTR today and the weather is supposed to hit early morning but looking to be done before our rental. They are going to dry the track up for us but they are predicting having to cancel saturday night NADM stuff due to more weather rolling in. I should be able to get you a spot during the day. There will only be about 30-40 cars there so there is plenty of space and time.
