sweet

nothing says dedication like an inline-8 pump sitting on the counter!

I like the project. Be nice if you could find a 80-86 short bead. I hate seeing a nice old Ford redone and using a newer bed.

thought id give this a little update: frame is still needing to be finished, but that shouldnt take me long....will probably work on that tomorrow. ill get then engine+turbo kit parts back next week some time...then can start mocking up the pump!

this pump has turned into a bit of a hassle, finding more info out about it and its not promising AS IS, it will need a bit of work before it can be usable. this came off of a big generator so it has a really strange fueling set up...115cc of fuel at 600rpm engine speed...(when the generator is at "idle" with no load) and then the 340cc at 1400rpm engine speed..(when it has a load on it). it needs a new set of different barrels and plungers for it to drop the idle down to 15cc ish...it just so happens that i found a 160hp p7100 pump off a cummins for a "core" so i will snag the b&p's out of that and the governor unit off it as well. this pump is supposed to be here on the 12th. then i will need to find 2 more b&ps as i have 8 cylinders.

CTDyoungun has been a HUGE help giving me info on these pumps!

on another note, does anyone know if this ford 9" rear is the "big bearing" or "small bearing? axle?

Idi's arent extinct yet! Lol

And still learning about the pump, but it's getting there...has anyone installed a governor themself? Is it pretty straight forward or best to let a fuel shop take care of that?

Looks to be the big bearing rear.

To quote Forrest, "IDIIWHY?"

Actually I am a closet IDI fan. Love hate relationship. First truck was a beat up Ford 6.9 IDI and I really love them. Usually always have my window down when I see one in traffic.

Really cool build doing something different. Can't wait to see it with that Bosch pump and that turbo.

Me too, 6.9L/7.3L IDIs have a great sound to them.

I have always thought so as well. Friend in high school had a straight piped non-turbo 7.3 IDI, it was one of the loudest trucks I have ever heard in my life. It would blow some eardrums if you romped on it going past someone.

Idi's sound like a motor with a can of rocks in each cylinder! They disgust me... To each his own.

Every time i started mine up in the cold (anything below 60*) it sounded as if the world was ending.

A diesel engine disgusts you? Blasphemy!

Ahh I'm just kidding, but I don't guess I know a diesel engine sound that I just flat out dislike.... the 6.5 Chevy has always been one of my least favorites, its not an even or a constant sound, its really random, but I still like it better than the sound of most gassers.

But anyway, enough derailing this guys thread.

Dude, your four place toaster is screwing up your posts:).

Also, the fuk is a four place toaster:confused:LOL.
