Pilot Injection!! Can it be turned off??? Anyone know?

Under The same conditions as well. Low boost and a cold engine is when it was the worse. Now I'm real curious to know what mine is going to sound like.
What I would like to know is When Marco allegadly removed the 3rd injection event the truck lost power. But if thats the case then you would think you could throw more fuel at it like you can the the 03-early04's 2injection event trucks.

Not sure how to post video, but if you go to 1320x.com click on videos then watch 1320x meet&greet at about 1:20 there is my first dyno pull with the new motor 848hp #2 only:rockwoot:
Hey Tim

the only problem is that in the video I am almost certain that was one of the runs with the MP8 on. Which rattled more than when it was off. :D

What's up Lloyd

Ya I think you are right I thought that was my first pull and i had it off:doh:

David, now that I think about it. I ran a one of a kind Dr.P Pressure box back in June that sent rail pressure threw the roof just revving it at an from an idle(past 27.5k). With that box on My truck rattled really bad, more then I was comfortable with but I ran it anyways and It made tons of power.

Just throwin more info at ya

With my setup stock bottom end, O-ringed head and slighter thicker HG Flux 3.3's and dual pumps I have the same sound as the truck in the video. David, I am very sure this noise is the result of more fuel (larger injectors) coupled with lower compression (lower the compression worse the noise). Everyone describes it the same it only happens at no or low boost. I am certain it is the result of incomplete combustion because as boost goes up and as Compression Ratio's are brought closer to stock (17.2:1) the noise is decreased. I don't think alterations in programming (at least what we have available today) will help. Hopefully, I am wrong

Swole or anyone else... here's close to 2 yrs worth of searching I did on this issue. You're welcome to read through every one. You'll find just about every question that's been asked, has already been asked. Nothing has been found or has worked to this day.

I've also driven my truck to the tune of 10K miles and well over 100 passes at the track. No damage has come from it that I've found.

Well mine is Quiet when its cold and get worse (a Lot worse) as it warms up!!!!!

I'm with you on being able to turn OFF pilot and just throw more fuel at the other two events!!! Or Hell, Just make it ONE BIG one like the old 12v's...I'd be ok with the sound , power, and mileage of that!!!!!

Mine sounds that bad with the MP8 off and Smarty unloaded....but gets worse when turned up...

So it's gotta be pressure related to some degree.....or just more fuel too early!! right?

I Totally agree with you on this.....If only we / they could get rid of the early fueling of the 04.5+ and make it like the 03-04's!!!!!

Is it really THAT hard for the genusis' to do!!! Not throwing punches here, I would just love a fix for this.....Because, in the end I think decompressing will show it benefit in longevity and reliability of these HIGH / HIGHER HP engines!!! It would be nice to have the programming to go with it!!!!!

Just a thought, but would it be possible to use an ecm off an 03-04 on the newer CR's?

Yeah, I hear although it wasn't whining. They were legitimate questions but, I don't believe anyone has the answer. You'll notice of all those threads.... Marco, Don or anyone else that may have been able to help never had anything to say or even attempted to help. Bob once offered a recovery program but when I asked for it... I never got an answer ???

You're as adamant about finding the problem as I was but, after asking and asking and putting the time and effort ibto it myself... it gets real old. I just want to let you know to not get your hopes too high cause you'll get evry frustrated.

Maybe, but then It would probably open up a bigger can of worms....I'd have to get a new tune from Bob to work...I'm sure my current TnT/R is for 04.5+....

Sounds like an expensive swap!!!!!

Keep thinking though!!! Thanks for this thought!!!

OUTSIDE THE BOX PEOPLE!!!!! LOL

You know I was just messing with ya about the whinning!! :Cheer:

Yeah, I know it may be a lost cause but 2's better than 1, 3's better than 2, etc.!!!

Maybe someone will start to pay more attention (if they already haven't)....

Maybe they have and this is just something that they've hit like a Brick Wall!!
I'm sure they will look into it someday for us!!! If not already....
