Southern Outlaw Diesel

I think it would be cool to have a 7000# class without any turbo restrictions but all fuel no nitrous.

I think that would be cool too Toolman but that rules out the main populace of the "fast" street trucks out there and would turn the class into another way too expensive to be competitive class. I think simply stated the rules should be 66mm unmodified compressor and cover, no injectables, dot tires, 7000lbs.... heads up, I'm so extremely excited about this and the multitude of people I've talked to today about this particular class are already getting their wallets out ready to make their truck meet class requirements, pending I give them the word go that we're not limited to S300's, myself included.

It would be fun, inexpensive (proportionally..) and a REAL race!

I like the challenge of the S300 limitation, but I'm definitely against the clipped stuff.

The 66mm rule allowing 300 or 400 turbos would be nice and would benefit me as well since i just put one on my megacab. But it still doesnt make the playing field fair enough to get the normal street truck out on the track. Because the only true street trucks that can run an s400 and still be useable for the average joe is a 6.7 truck. So your cutting out a LOT of possible entries. There are a LOT of trucks out there that are running an s366 and they already meet the requirements for the class Gary has mentioned. And a truck running a 366 doesnt stand a chance against a truck with a 466, assuming they are both tuned correctly. SO if you allow both turbos, the average joe guys with 366s are not gonna enter knowing they are up against trucks with 466's.

If you keep it as a single to keep the cost down it should be limited to an S-300 frame turbo other wise we will be back where we are in the Super Stock class with the custom turbos. If you make it any 66 mm turbo the turbo that Aron Nick ran last year in Super Stock and won would be legal. It was a non clipped wheel

Exactly !

S400's aren't exclusive to 6.7's in the DD realm, we have an 05 DD'ing around here with an S475 (Yoda / Dan Hairs truck). I think the 7,000lb weight limit brings all the DD trucks back in to competition regardless of turbo, however limiting it to a real 66mm compressor is just another layer of icing on the cake. Limiting to turbo frame is poop on the cake...

i will be decideing on what to do for a turbo the week before race day this year. i have a custom built charger i had made for ss last year it was a true protrusion 66 s400.

Looks like more people are leaning towards the 366. Keep the comments coming please, I want to get the flyer right the first time. Gary

That's an idea, trying to keep rules to a minimum if I can. But if that will attract more trucks I'm all for it. Just to make this very clear as I'm thinking everyone is thinking I'm changing Super Stock. I am NOT!!! These are two seperately classes. Super Stock and Heavy Street. Close but seperately.

I'm down for a weight break for 366 chargers, not interested in putting a 366 on my truck though.

Those of you with check in hand ready to participate in this class either at Bradenton or this season if it takes off as anticipated, post up your thoughts... Chase is working up a tentative rulebook for the class now... it'll all make sense soon.
