Southern Outlaw Diesel

Entry fee is tentatively set at $100.00 for the Heavy Street class. Jess, I'm waiting until tomorrow to post the final rules. I want to get as much input as possible so as to make the most sensible decision. I'm really leaning towards keeping the 366 charger for this class. If there is enough interest I may break it into two classes. A 366 class and a 466 class. Or maybe even add more weight if you choose to run a 466. I feel that it would be a hassle to do that, but I'm wanting to attract the average guy. Post up your feelings and thoughts as I really want to put this to bed by the weekend.

Making a 366 charger class vs a true-66 class is like calling it a cummins only race with latino drivers. What about all the other companies that make turbo-chargers? What about first budget upgrades on 6.0's and 6.6 trucks? Why can't they run their stock chargers that have been modified up to 66mm (IE Duramax Cheetah) or a drop in Garrett? Running a 66mm straight bore no clipped wheel bs, a true 66mm wheel MAKES it a restrictor race, along with weight limit, telling everyone who's already running a good setup then telling them they have to change type/frame charger to enter IMO means you're going to have a class of a few DD cummins trucks that show up since the S366 is only a budget drop in for them.

If we can run any frame we want as long as it's a 66mm wheel, I'll run this class at every event I go to (nearly all of them east coast..), all year long, however I'm not willing to stick an S300 in my truck for the race and switch it back to my (reliable) S400 framed charger to DD with. My truck is my DD, I run it like I race it, S300 limitation sucks.

If you guys REALLY want a S300 class, why not just have a drag racing work stock class with stock chargers... this class (I thought) was meant to be for us guys that are faster than the Index classes but not competitive in Pro-Street, hence the "Heavy-Street" name. This is for those guys that were begging for an 11.50 class.

7,000lb, true 66, no injectables, DOT tires FTW... you've covered the 99% of "hot rod diesels" on the road right there, it'll be fair, it'll be fun!

Good lord Ryan, would you like some cheese with that whine? Lmfao!!! How about run what ya bring to the track as long as you drove it to the track with the same limitations?

Won't work. They tried that in sled pulling. I parked at the nearest drive. Unloaded my puller and drove in. No sweat. Not cause it was a bad ass un streetable truck. Block was cracked and wouldn't hold water. Was running it til it flew apart. Still won the pull though LOL

What about having everyone go on a 20min. Drive after u get their. Trailer to the track but it must be able to drive for 20min. On the street. I'll lead this if you want Gary.

I'm down with a street drive, hell I'll probably be towing a trailer TO the races with what I intend to run in the heavy street class lol and YES I love cheese Gary.. ;)

make one for an 8k truck with a 62 and im in..and ill bring a tractor to drag down the strip with me for the et hauler class

Oh just giving you a hard time Ryan. Im 99.9% sure its gonna be a 366 turbo. The majority of phone calls and messages I have received are saying that's what they want anyway. I say let's do the 366 in Heavy Street and be done with it. Info is up on the tracks website, so go take a look and tell me what you think. home diesel 2012 bradenton motorsports park

Rules will be up later tonight I hope. Feel free to call with any questions.

What could have been an amazing class, down the drain. Hope your mind changes and allows any true 66 charger or It'll be a boring dodge class as a 366 isn't a drop in for Duramax or Powerstroke. There is no performance advantages to a 466 over a 366, with the exception of more options on turbine and turbine housings but the compressor is nearly identical, one rides on a tiny shaft, the other on the larger more durable S400 shaft. I know by going 366 at a bare minimum you just lost 4 entry fee's, including mine, that were excited as could be about a true 66 class designed just for trucks "like ours".

In order to have a class with good numbers of all crowds represented... It has to allow everyone to play without insighting costly purpose built turbos, or catastrophic failures. Saying its got to be a S366 is going to hurt more than help... The P-Pump boys will have to bring spares so that they have another turbo or two after they scatter the first. The 6.4/6.7 Ford boys will be out of the race unless they really pay to play. The Duramax crowd will have to get fancy too, pedestals, spacers, custom intakes...

Dictate a 66mm Inducer and whatever you can stuff it into. Garret VNT, Holset Hybrid, 6.4 Borg Low pressure charger... In the end everyone is working with the same 2.6"s of air, and only so much HP is going to be made with it.

Just as long as it's not a clipped something or other but a true 66mm wheel or smaller.. that and 7,000lbs is restriction enough to make a fun 11.50'ish heads up class that a ton of guys will have fun in!

We run a s366 turbo on the drag truck and have made 1272hp on it.
I don't see where the problem is here :shake:

Yours doesn't count! LOL... You've got enough turbo in a bottle to equate 5 S366's worth of oxygen :)

How's this Ryan? See attachment

Plus 99% of the S366 covers ever made, tech 2.655 COLD. Which means your average S366 will not pass tech with a 2.65 plug. Everyone would have to get on the same page as far as the "Plug" demensions used to tech the bore. That way all S366 will pass without any complaints.

There you go, now what kind of verbiage can you tack onto that to keep cheater chargers extinct from this class without limiting to 366?

Verbage? Its in the picture! LOL Cant cheat if the rules are right there in picture! Thats better than Crayola!

The heavy street class sounds awesome to me. That class sounds like it would fit exactly what I'm planning to build in my 6.7! A DD quad cab short bed that actually can make it down the track at a decent pace.

Well i cant say that im going to race because i dont have the setup yall do but i will be headed there from louisiana to watch and support yall!!!
